My middle finger on the left I think is trigger finger I wake up and it's bent under .
Now my right middle finger feels like I've bang a vein.its an intensive pain under the finger ,it's like being stabbed.ive not had this before and have no idea weathers its Fibro or not.anyone have any ideas .or had something like this .?

Hey there, sorry you been feeling this sucky pain. I know this might not help to much but I have shakey hands at random times or my hand will like cramp up in one position and I can't use it. Rhemy said it might be fibro nerves shooting off for no reason like how our bodies are always in pain and reacts differently to it. But I would definitely see a neurologist to see if theres anything further wrong. Good luck. Let us know what you find out. Hugs

Yeah, that is something we can and should do, fight, see the necessary specialists and try the different medicines available, only by doing that we can improve our condition and try to take control of our life.

A lot of the 'itises' tend to go along with Fibromyalgia. I have had many diagnoses over the years, including carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, tendinosis, etc. and those three all involve my hands/fingers/wrists. The inflammation seems to relate to the Fibromyalgia, and some things I do that help are wear thumb splints that help compress my hands/wrists, hot wax dips, and hot baths. I also occasionally use ice packs on my hands and wrists, and anti-inflammatories help me more than anything else. I'd definitely get it checked out, but don't be surprised if you simply end up with a diagnosis of inflammation. Hopefully it's nothing more serious, and can be managed so you get some relief.

I'm getting trigger finger on the index finger of the right hand, also the main joints-where finger attaches to hand on same finger plus the one next to it. It is so swollen most of the time. It is caused by arthritis in my case which is my fight with the auto-immune disease I deal with. (that killed off my thyroid and started this FM in the first place) Dr. says to keep inflammation out of the tissues,(can swell up the entire back of the hand). Not easy! I LOVE the hot wax. Used it in pt a couple years ago. Really want to get one! But use warm to hot water to soak in; to loosen up; tried capsasin cream but it caused a burning, red rash. So I use comfry cream or arnica or any of those types. So far the comfry works best. I take LOTS of anti-inflammatory supplements and probiotics as those also help the inflammation. The 'bang the vein' thing I get too. Sometimes I do hit it but mostly It's a nerve thing that can be set off with swelling or just inflammation.

When it comes to specialists I do know that there are doctors out there who specialize in the extremities, but I am not sure how available or common they are, I just know that they exist and I am guessing that you would have to look pretty hard to find one locally. That said, though, pain in the fingers is pretty common and can be very severe, and the best course of action is to consult your physician to see if a change in anything can help, but other than that just stay strong.

It could be a condition called psoriatic arthritis which resembles rheumatoid arthritis. It is responsible for painful sausage like swelling on your fingers or toes. It also causes foot pain at the back of the heels (Achilles tendinitis) or the sole of the lower feet.) Another pain associated with this disease is called socioiliitis and is associated with lower back pain.

Funny my back is killing me right now with Sciatica.

This illness must be the illness that keeps on giving ....i had fairly good hands pain wise so long as i modified activity and kept repetitive actions minimal ....only a few snips with secateurs in garden stop do a bit more the next day etc...but like so many of you my index finger started with morning stiffness but not enough to trouble me.

It must have been from use of the pc mouse...but over time the pain has spread to all fingers and thumbs then the base of each joint and into wrists.

Boy it gets you down when you just come to terms with your own level of fibro but it seems there is no end. My hands feel like they have been hit with a hammer most days.

I agree heat ice all helps but for me i mostly have to rest them a lot and strictly limit activity.

I'm not too good at that and regularly use laptop too much.

I cheat and buy ready prepared fresh veggies and use electric can opener and jar opener too.

It does feel like tendonitis but i have never got it checked. Whatever... the treatment will be rest or anti inflammatory drugs which i can't tolerate.

I just get on with as best i can...ranting on here!!

Hope yours goes off Forgetmenot.

I have trigger finger in both my right and left middle finger, probably due to the fact that when I was a little girl I would get my fingers stuck in doors constantly. It's very painful to deal with some days, and rain usually makes the pain worse. Sometimes I wake up in the mornings with my fingers stuck in a position and I just have to wait for them to loosen up (usually hot water helps). What you're experiencing with your left finger sounds like trigger finger ro me, but what you're experiencing with the right sounds different. It may be something else, because I've never had that kind of pain with mine. You should definitely talk to your doctor about it if it keeps happening.

I also love the hot wax treatments. I have a paraffin bath, and the wax can be purchased at many pharmacies and also at places such as Sally Beauty Supply. I've even purchased it online. I agree, it might be good to look at other diagnoses such as psoriatic arthritis, as well as reflex sympathetic dystrophy. The first thing to rule out (at least in my case, since it's such a frequent issue) would be dehydration. I tend to get a lot of cramping and random pains from it, and it's the easiest to test out and work on at home, although if it's severe enough, you could need IV fluids.

Guys, since we are talking about fingers... does anyone know what it means when your fingers hurt, but there is no swelling? I have that, same on my knees, but I have no swelling... so no idea what causes my pain in those areas :(

My joints and fingers all hurt Trellum and there is no swelling. I believe its the tendons in part causing this where they insert into the joints as our tendons ligaments and muscles are all affected by fibro.

Not true tendonitis but like all of fibro unexplained tightness and pain ....i am not a doctor though but this is my understanding.

Maybe others have thoughts?

Its always wise if you are concerned to get it checked out by your doctor.

That the true thing, the symptoms are there, but the causes are unexplained. Many times not even doctors can help...

@ruralchick if you're around and see this, could you tell me which anti-inflammatory supplements you take? I would like to start addressing that issue with supplements, since i'm going to eventually run out of the mobic, and it also sometimes tears up my stomach, so I have to limit the amount I take anyway.

I would love to address most of my issues in a more natural way one of these days, but of course it's going to be a trial and error process, since what works for one person may not work for another, and sometimes things I take for one of my ailments will end up exacerbating another.
