Has anyone ever tried Savella for their fibro pain? I've been on Cymbalta for a while. Now it just doesn't seem to be helping much. My neuro wants to increase it to help my migraines and to help my sleep (I only sleep about 4 hours a night) but when we have tried that, I get really bad night sweats. I'm thinking about asking my pain specialist to try Savella to see if I get better pain control with that and start sleeping better. It's the pain, between the fibromyalgia and the MS that make it difficult for me to sleep. It's been 4 months of this and I need to get more sleep.

I actually am not familiar with Savella, perhaps you could fill me in. I was on Cymbalta for about 6 months before my insurance ran out and I could no longer afford it. The Cymbalta seemed to help a little bit, but I'm thinking there has to be something better out there. Lyrica perhaps? Right now I am on Elavil and while it doesn't do too much for the fibro pain it does help me fall asleep and stay asleep. Maybe you could ask your doctor about Elavil?

I have been on Cymbalta along with Gabapentin and while it did help, that combo made me put on a bit of weight. I am now on Savella and a lower dose of Gabapentin and this combo seems to work a bit better. The Savella decreases my appetite so I haven't gained any weight yet....cross your fingers. As far as pain mgmt, I think both combos worked the same.

I was on Savella but it didn't help with the pain at all. I take 60mg of Cymbalta a day and it has helped tremendously. I do have dry mouth from it though. The doctor also put me on Wellbutrin to give me energy because I have major fatigue. I haven't had the weight gain but medicine affects everyone differently.

Savella is very similar to cymbalta in almost every way except it won't treat depression. I don't really have depression most of the time, so that wasn't an issue. The ideal would have been to increase the cymbalta to 60 mg, but we tried that with initial dosing and I had really
Bad night sweats-soaked the bed sheets every night and had to wash them almost daily. it was miserable. I've been on Lyrica and gabapentin in the past to treat nerve pain associated with MS. I had a really hard time with them. I gained weight and they made the chronic fatigue much worse. I already get way too sleepy during the day as it is. My doc switched me to savella a few weeks ago and I think it's helping so far. Thanks for your feedback.

I've tried both medications
Cymbalta made me very depressed... I'm not a depressed person by any means. I get frustrated by my health issues, but not depressed. Cymbalta was horrible for me. I was on it for 5 or 6 weeks... Had to stop it because I was scaring everyone around me with how depressed it made me....
Savella... Ha. This was another bust for me. Made me sicker than a dog. Bad stomach pains, nausea, headaches, hot flashes, more pain than I was in before I started it... That drug lasted 2 weeks... It's wasn't helping the pain... And even if it was, I wouldnt have continued it because of the stomach pains and nausea.... It was awful!

On 60 mg. Cymbalta. Max dosage Savella and Lyrica as well as Vimpat and extended release Xanax. It's embarrassing to be on all these medicines. And, they don't seem to work. Symptoms keep getting worse. Sometimes I wonder if it's just a vicious circle. Does the fatique and pain come from the meds or the condition? I'd love to be able to stop everything all at once to see what would happen. But, I think the process if weening of these drugs would surely put me over the edge!
