Hello there! I'm a Registered Nurse and I want to know your experiences having this kind of illness. Knowing so will help me take care and manage my patients having fibromyalgia.

Hello! It's great to have you here so we can learn from each other. I've shared my story several times throughout this forum, so it's a lot easier for me to suggest going back and reading older threads to learn our stories. I'm also exceptionally exhausted right now, and I'm on the computer so I don't feel like I'm withering away.

My story is really complicated too - it starts at birth and slowly builds from there. Fibromyalgia just presented itself a little over a year ago. I'm convinced it's a symptom of my other root issues, such as weak digestive organs that I'm working on repairing, over exertion most of my life, weak heart (born with a heart murmur,) tons of true allergies to foods and environmental stuff, major inflammation (arthritis - I have damage to my wrists from it,) and very low blood sugar and pressure for an extended amount of time. I went to many doctors and specialists, got the appropriate diagnoses, and no help from them whatsoever. They put me on Cymbalta, which made me much worse, in that I got so weak that I honestly believed I was dying. My flame of life was about as low as possible. I gave up on doctors and went to naturopath my friend with fibro highly recommended. He's doing a tremendous amount of good for me - I can't recommend him enough. He's healing me through an extreme diet, supplements (herbs, actual organ tissue, minerals, and vitamins,) treatments at his clinic and at home, exercise, and rest.

Hi it is nice to have a nurse here on the Forum that takes a interest in what we are going through. The thing that I wish the medical field would understand is that Fibromyalgia makes you feel so alone and there is no one to help emotionally. I wish as soon as a person is told they have this Doctors start them with not just pain management but some kind of emotional support as well. Thats why I am so grateful for this Forum it has really helped me. Depression and Fibro go hand in hand and thats something I have to deal with all the time.
