Hi there! I am new to the group and I was just recently diagnosed with fibro though I have been feeling the effects of it for quite some time. I have been looking at a lot of the forums on here for awhile too and have found a lot of great info and see a lot of support:smile: My question is does anyone else have any issues with their mouth? I have some blotchy patches that are flat and smooth on the roof of my mouth, they aren't really bright red. The roof of my mouth as well as my tongue are sore. I am going to try and get into see my dentist this week but they aren't open until tomorrow and I have been very scared and stressed about it the whole long weekend:( I do this with every new symptom, googling it and getting so scared that it could be something horrible like cancer:( Any feedback would be very much appreciated! Thanks! :)

No diagnosis here, just a gentle reminder to relax. You'll see a doc soon. Please remember that every symptom is not fibro related. I get sore mouth and patches when I eat too many tomatoes.

Thanks Loftpat for your reply, I am doing my best to relax though can be easier said than done! lol :)

Hi there and welcome to the Forum. You shouldn't go on the internet it will really scare you. I stopped doing that along time ago because it scared the you no what out of me. Are you eating anything different? It also could be a reaction to medication, I have had some weird things happen to me and it turned out to be side effects of medication. Try not to worry because it will only make things worse. We are here if you need to talk, the people on here are very helpful. Take care, and don't google it anymore.

Thanks for your response Lana:) I know going on the internet is the worst thing you can do but I can't help myself.....my husband has even threatened to cancel the internet! lol. I definitely will try my best to stop looking everything up. I am not on any medications and haven't eaten anything different. I did see my dentist today and he believes it could either be a viral infection or could be due to the fibro. He suggested that if it isn't gone in 3-4 days to see my dr. Hoping it goes away soon!

I think you should diagnose it from teeth specialist. Teeth germ cause teeth disease. The best way to check it on every month.

Just go and see your dentist. When I had flares they sometimes started with mouth pain. I got red patches in the roof of my mouth and it made speaking and eating painful. My dentist gave me a liquid medication that soothed the soreness and it improved very quickly. Instead of worrying just go and get checked out. It could be as simple as a lack of a certain vitamin. :)

Thanks for replying 1sweed:) I don't find it painful to speak or eat thankfully. Just feels like the roof of my mouth and my tongue are burning but it is not always constant. The roof of my mouth is all blotchy and tender though all the time. I did see my dentist and he assured me it is not cancer or anything like that but thought it could either be viral or due to the fibro. He told me to see my dr in 3 to 4 days though if it doesn't go away.

You should start a diary of your symptoms. Mouth sores is a symptom of lupus (you probably don't have it) but, I think it is a good thing to write it down because if you're like me and it goes away you will forget about it in a few months. Especially since some of us have a lot of weird symptoms. I hope you get better! Oh yea, warm salt water gargles..

Is your mouth burning too? I had weird patches on my tongue. Stopped drinking the tap water and everything cleared up. Mouth is all healthy :)

Thanks Brismom for the advice, I think I will start writing it down. It had gone away (though I still had one blotch spot still on roof of mouth but no pain) and then I got a flare up. Now again last night the roof of my mouth started to burn again and becoming more blotchy again. Very strange. I am waiting for an appointment with a dermatologist as that is what my dentist and dr suggested so we shall see...

Thanks for the reply cheerygirl:) My mouth does burn at times but isn't constant and the blotches are on the roof of my mouth though my tongue can look tender too. I don not drink tap water at all though so don't think that is what is affecting me:/
