    TipBill:

Most interesting that you know Atchison, KS! Wow!

The back pay was sent to me by Medicare a few months after received my SSDI. Yes, one does get back pay for SSI, too. It arrived in a separate check. I was never expecting it. I had not heard, either, that one receives back pay from SSI. Maybe it is assumed that one is unemployed and eligible for SSI. I, too, was told by the person who determines that one can receive SSDI that I could work. I yelled into the conference room phone, "There is no way that I can do those jobs". I was frantic. My attorney told me to just wait and to not say more. Sure enough, the determiner gave approval for me to receive SSDI.

I wonder if you have received your SSI and SSDI after having seen the psychiatrists. I hope so!

It is such a long process. Hang in there!

    Hope this helps.

I am so sorry that I have not been at the forum for several months. TipBill, yes, my attorney received 25% of my SSI back pay and 25% of my SSDI back pay.

Krista, in your recent post you bring up the subject of showing your full-name here on this forum. YES, there are good reasons to remain anonymous, esp if you are in the SS disability application process, AND ALSO particularly if you are awarded ssdi. Google "SSA CDIU". It just takes one disgruntled acquaintance to mess you up. Take care. Feel free to delete this message after you read. Sorry I can't seem to Private-mail you.

I have fibromyalgia as well as a number of other conditions. I am in constant pain and have difficulty doing some of my work on my job. I have read that it is very difficult to get disability for pain. My worst problem is if I quit work to apply we will lose everything we own because we are barely making ends meet now. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks for the SS disability info you provided me. I actually am already on SSDI. "Survived" that process, incl. the ALJ hearing. Whew! Like many here, I have an assortment of medical problems.

Read on one of the ssd forums of folks who only had fibro as their sole MDI and received SSDI. Luckily they had good legal representation and stong supportive evidence of inability to perform SGA. So it's possible. It should be easier for you and your lawyer to build a strong case with more "ailments", hopefully.

In the mean time, continue seeing your pdocs and be good to yourself.

    Wishing you peace, Krista!

    Hi Krista,

I saw your various recent messages requesting info on the SSDI process. You might want to check out the CFS-info.com forum where there are a number of very helpful folks that have gone thru the process and may be able to answer specific questions. Their forum archives may also be very helpful. Here is one such past post with a lot of good information:

    http://www.cfs-info.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6423-yes-im-still-here-will-see-the-ssdi-judge-in-about-an-hour-wish-me-luck/

As for me, I am in a similar boat as you. I was denied SSDI twice, and so hired a lawyer. In April '15 after a reconsideration was denied, my lawyer requested a hearing with the ALJ judge. My lawyer recently contacted me and said that hearing dates are backed up and my hearing won't be till probably May this year (13 months since submitting the hearing request). Gosh! The wait is awful, as you know!

Take care and the best of luck!

    Hi Krista.
I don't know about shoulder surgery but I going to have thyroid surgery on the 17th of this month. I did a lot of research about the surgery itself and surgery w/fibromyalgia recovery time. It helped me to better understand what the Dr. was telling me.
I hope that everything goes well for you and just take it one moment at a time.
    Gentle hugs to you
    Patti
