Default Help and support

Hi. I'm new to this.

I have been diagnosed with M.E and fibromyalgia. I have really low mood and I think I've tried most anti depressants. I'm currently taking amitriptyline 50mg. I tried to go up to 75mg but couldn't tolerate this so had to come down again. I don't really know if it is working or not, the first few weeks of being on this dose I felt good, my mood had improved, my pain had reduced but now my pain is back worse than ever, I'm awake until 4am, I hardly sleep and my anxiety and depression is through the roof.

My GP is great but I think we both don't know where to go from here. He referred me to a specialist and I saw them and they gave me suggestions but said once they have given their advice you will be discharged as there is little they can do. I am moving house to a completely new area soon and and so worried about changing my Dr as he knows me and I really don't want to go through everything and every test again.

Any help/advice/just somebody to talk to!

Thank you.

..btw I'm 25 year old female

Hi! I am new to this too but just knowing I can "talk" about this to someone other than my husband seems to help. I'm sure he gets tire of my complaining. I don't know what ME is? Please give me the full name. You live in the UK-socialized medicine right?
1. What caused the back pain? Have you had x-rays or a MRI to make sure you don't have a dislocated disc or some other problem?
2. What kind of specialist were you sent to? I would try to find (if it is possible there) a doctor who specializes in Rheumatoid diseases (a Rheumatologist)
and hopefully one who has experience with Firbromyalgia-not all do.
3. I was started on Cymbalta which our US FDA has approved for Fibromyalgia pain. I started off on 60 mg at night.
4. I know the last thing you want to do is exercise but it does help. Exercise-even just walking increases the brains endophin levels which is our body's natural pain and feel good chemical.
Let me know the answers to my questions if you want or feel up to it. Best wishes.
