Hello just joined here , I've had FM since 2004 and it just seems to get worse, when something new appears I ask the doctors about it and response is it's just your FM or they think I'm crazy. It's very hard to cope with it at work. I only work 4 hrs a day but it seems like I've been there all day.The list goes on. I'm glad I found this site to see what other people have gone through.

Hi bethtoven... and welcome to the forum. :) I'm here for helping a few friends of mine with fibro and other chronic pain issues, and not a sufferer myself... but that said, I'm sure you'll be able to find a ton of support here from others going through exactly the same issues. I've seen a lot of caring and a huge amount of information on dealing with fibro.

Seriously if your doctor thinks you're "crazy" when you mention this pain, you may want to see someone else. Is your doctor over 50? I've noticed that it's usually the older ones who are very set in their ways that often aren't bothering to come up to speed on relatively newer diagnoses' like fibro. (Before someone teases me about that, I am NOT NOT NOT ;-) saying that 50 is old... just that people who went to med school in the 70s/80s and before never heard of this, so they didn't have training in it.)

How was your Monday?

I agree with mariposa, you should see someone else if this doctor doesn't care about you. I also admire the fact that your working, this should be very difficult for you.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with the comments above, if your doctor thinks your crazy you need a new doctor. I hope you have been to see a rheumatologist as this type of doctor is the one that knows about fibro and the best treatments for it. If this is your doctor, then find a different one, or look for a good family doctor that knows about fibro.

In the mean time check around the forum and read the posts on pain management and dealing with all the symptoms of fibro, and try the ones that suit you best. I hope you enjoy this forum and make yourself at home. Try posting in the pub and tea time topic's and share a bit of your day. Hope to see you around the forum. :)

That's how Fibro started for me, was one thing followed by the other......one pain got better, then another thing hurt.....I'm sure my dr thought I was crazy until tests confirmed lupus and RA, then through deduction he summed it up as Fibro.....it's like a surprise, never know what will hurt one day to the next.....glad you found us :)

My doctor has just said that I have the RA, and she also said that I have gout, and then sent me to a neurologist to see if some of the symptoms are caused from MS, since my daughter has been diagnosed with MS, and it runs in families often. However, they said I don't have MS! And they don't really know what is causing the dizzy spells, and some of the pain and other issues that I am having , and I think that maybe I have FM also, but they just didn't diagnose it. A lot of what I am reading on these posts, sounds like what I am going through.
I have thought about finding a different doctor, but with Medicare and Medicaid, only certain doctors will take me as a patient, so I am just taking care of myself as well as I am able to.

I thought I was crazy and my dr told me I was not and encouraged me to go a do deep internet research and that I did. That make me aware of most of the systoms though some new ones still suprise me. Those of us who are strong lets continue to be and to pray for and encourage those that a not. A pure heart with faith and prayers is very satisfying.
