I have been lucky growing up to miss the acne stage, I rarely get zits, I never get cold sores or anything like that.
I have however had a few boils. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been inflicted with these blighters. I only ever get them in one place. It's very sore and right where your knicker elastic sits. Damn inconvenient.
Ive had not the best few months and I'm guessing it's played a part in the appearance of the boil. You tend to get them when particularly run down.
Pretty gross subject but in our condition we spend a lot of our time run down and under the weather so do any of you get boils, zits, sores or other likewise afflictions?

I have not had this problem. I am sorry to hear that you do. However, as a teenager, I did not have acne. I feel I had good skin. But now, I seem to have problems with acne. It seems to be the worst in terms of break outs when I am feeling the poorest with my Fibromyalgia.

That's interesting that you would ask this question. I find that I get more frequent cysts or boils than I ever have before. (I'm not really sure what the difference between the two is.) I had wondered if it had anything to do with my immune system or the fibromyalgia.

I do want to caution you also. If you get anything that looks infected, don't hesitate to go the doctor about it. There is a possibility you could need antibiotics to clear it up.

oh if it carried on for more than a week i would show it the doc, but it seems to be sorting itself out now and is nearly gone.

I used to have acne when I was a teen, but my skin is mostly clean now :) However, I still get a zit here and there from time to time, specially when I'm just a couple of days away from having my period.

I don't get boils very often tho, so far I've only got boils twice! They're extremely painful and gross! The first one that I ever got was located on my upper back, the doctor had to give me some antibiotics for that; it went away after 1 or 2 weeks. The second one was harder to deal with, because it appeared in a very inconvenient area, fortunately the boil bursted on its own (YIKES!) after a few days.

yes- the knicker line is a problem as for one thing it causes an ingrown hair or two which is what usually starts a boil off, then its just so damn uncomfortable and makes it split before its time and takes a bit longer to heal.
nasty little things

Probably the oldest person on this forum, I have heard of boils but don't rightly know what they are. Painful, I would imagine--sounds painful. What does the doctor say? They have been around a long time--boils, not the doctor--so they may have something that will help. Hope so.

I've often wondered if boils were genetic, because my boyfriend's niece has them really bad, and so did some other people in their family. Does anyone know if they are hereditary? I don't suffer from boils, but my dad and I both have very, very, sensitive skin, and we get cysts really easily. I've gotten them on my legs and they're SO painful! My dad had one so big on his back that he had to get it surgically removed 4 or 5 times.

Yeah, that very same area! LOL! I was a bit scared at first, and I didn't there to go to the doctor so he could give it a look  I just waited and hoped for the best! Thankfully that thing healed after a while. Do you bleed a lot once your boils burst on their own? Mine do, A LOT! I wonder if that's normal...

boils for those that dont know are really a large infected spot, usually caused (in the case of my brother and sister) infected skin around their fingers where they bit the nails so badly, acne zits can get infected= boil, and ingrown hairs that get infected= BOIL! that why the hair one is more likely to be in those nasty embarrassing places lots of lovely goodies down there to cause infection no matter how clean you are.
Trellum when mine burst, after the initial nasty stuff it will be weeping blood for a few days. movement just doesnt let it heal quick enough. its good it bleeds as it will help prevent further infection.

I never had Acne as a teenager but for about the last 16 years or so I have suffered every so often with breast abscesses which can get so painful that I can hardly move my arms, I used to go to the doctor with them until one time they decided to excise the affected area and had to numb the area by inserting the needle into the my nipple and the area around my nipple...it was so painful that I decided NEVER to go to a doctor about them again haha

I also tend to get, what I would say were boils in the same place as you but I usually find that if I put some Vaseline on at night before going to bed then by morning, it is almost cleared up.

I might try the vaseline trick later as my boil is back again. DAMN

Damn! Mine only bled for a couple of hours only :O It's good to know that bleeding is actually a good sign :) I hope this doesn't happen again anytime soon tho.
