My story begins about seven months ago. I woke up one morning with horrible dizziness, nausea, and headaches. I visited my PCP who initially thought I was having migraines and that this pain would go away. The pain didn't go away and so when I returned, he ordered a CT scan of my brain which came back clear.
I begin to get tingling and numbness in my arms, legs, and face and was having some back pain in May of this year I went back to the doctor who ordered an x-ray of my back where they told me that I had a compressed disk in my back. Doctor prescribed list of exercises to do daily. Exercises were painful and so I have been unable to do them.
I also had some additional blood work done and I was informed that I had tested positive for Lyme. So I was referred to an Infectious Disease Specialist at KU Med who thought that I had a false positive. He stated that in the Western blot you need 4/10 antibodies to be diagnosed and that I only had one and it was a common one that many people already have. I had activity on 2 of the 3 IgM and this triggered the positive result. I did a two week cycle of doxycyclin between the time I met with the PCP and the Infectious Disease Specialist.
The tingling and the numbness didn't go away so in June, I was referred to a neurologist who performed the standard strength and balance tests and I passed them all. I was referred for an MRI of my brain to rule out MS at that time and it was labeled as unremarkable with and without contrast. I was also told by the neuro that I in fact had a compression fracture of the t-11 instead of a compressed disk.
I began having pains all over my body including my scrotum area. I had a sonogram of that area as well as having my prostate checked. Both tests were normal. I've been checked for a hernia by a urologist and that came out normal.
I have also had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy and those came back normal.
My symptoms were not getting better so in July I had an MRI done of my back and spinal column to see if there was anything that could be causing my continued symptoms. The MRI came back normal.
About two weeks ago, I had a physical and worked out that evening. I was unable to get myself calmed down and went to sleep, I woke up in the middle of the night with cramps in both of my calves. I had cramps in my calves two of the next three nights before going to the ER. They prescribed diazepam and I didn't have cramps for the next two nights. I didn't take the medicine because I was going back to work and that first night I had a cramp so I went to my PCP. He ran more blood tests and everything checked out normal except I had an aldolase level of 19.2. He has referred me to a rheumatologist and I am waiting to hear back from them.
I am still having back pain, some tingling in my forehead and ears, occasional burning sensations, and both of my hips are aching. These burning sensations occur mainly on my face and ears and on the inside of my left leg near my groin. My hips don't hurt all the time but they ache and the pain is dull. I have been having a sharp pain on my left side right above my hip that comes and goes. Both of my legs feel like they have pulled muscles and I have pain behind both of my knees. I also am having some muscle twitching throughout my body but mainly in my calves.
I apologize for the long post but any insight provided would be great.
