Has anyone tried a supplement called SAMe? I am trying to find things to try other than medication. I have a script for massage therapy too but I am trying to get pain better controlled first. :)

I tried that, and it didn't help me at all.

I wonder if some of those things are just not strong enough? I just hate the thought of taking meds. But if I have to then I guess I will have to. For me sleep is a BIG issue. I do not get a good nights sleep like ever anymore. :(

I was diagnosed with fibro at age 35, when I had three small children and a full time job - and I needed to be able to sleep. I made the decision that, much as I disliked taking meds, I had no choice. What has worked for me is Trazadone, an older antidepressant taken at night. Dosage has been 50 to 100 mg over the years. I have gone off many times to get a "drug-free holiday," but returned to it. This is not state-of-the-art medication, but it has helped and with very little side effect that I am aware of. I'm sure not for everyone, but maybe something to try.

Yes - many people try meds and I tried one so far. I know I may have to give in and try another but for now I am trying to do without them :)

Sabrina, I absolutely understand and support your not wanting to take drugs. At the same time, if you don't sleep enough or well enough it is one of the most injurious things to your health, not just with fibro but for anyone. It is really hard to come to the right decision at the right time and I wish you all the best.

For what it's worth I also take Trazadone, and have for about 30 years now because I am a chronic insomniac without it. But in the past year I need something more, and I use the medical cannabis tincture to help me sleep at night. It makes a difference, although these days with all that is going on I am so anxious and the whole atmosphere around me is so anxious, scared, and crazy that it is hard for me to relax enough to get a really good night's sleep.

My husband and I are looking into CBD products. Yes, I definitely need to find something that helps with sleep.

I take 10mg of cetrine (an antihistamine) for sleep.

Just be very careful where you get CBD products or oils. A great number of products that are being sold as CBD actually have little or no CBD in them, especially if you get it on the internet. Lot of scams out there, charging high prices for nothing.

Remember, too, that just because it says Hemp doesn't mean it has CBD in it.
A compounding pharmacy is a good place to get it. I get mine (which I combine with medical cannabis) at the same reputable place I get the cannabis, so I know that it is what it says it is.

I tried SAM-e over ten years ago for hip joint pain, before I got fibro. I felt relieve, but what helped even more was when I added high amounts of fish oil. Now, I don't have this hip pain anymore, but I have fibro pain in other joints and muscles. I don't take high amounts of fish oil now, but I take boswellia/frankincense for my knees; and this really helps me.

Thank you for the helpful info!! :)
