Hi, I’m new here and still trying to navigate the site. I was diagnosed in 2009 with fibromyalgia and lupus. I suffer with wide spread chronic pain since 2009. I recent was given prescription Lyrica. I was on it for a week and it did help with pain but I was so sleepy and in a fog the entire time, so I stopped it. I’ve tried other meds as well with no success. I’m currently in norco and morphine but I’d like to know if anyone has had a good experience with Lyrica or any other medication?ive gotten so depressed, any advice? Thank you so much in advance

I am currently not taking any meds. I take daily vitamins and Vitamin C supplement which i have taken for years, long before Fibro. The neurologist added a magnesium supplement and it took about 3 months for me to notice any benefit but the fogginess isnt as bad as it used to be for sure. For me personally I feel that trying to go without prescription meds is best, I did alot of reading other stories and did research and feel that rather than trying the rollercoaster of meds, I am better off to try find other ways to cope and find relief. I am still figuring things out but forums like this are VERY helpful!! @sunkacola often gives very good advice and suggestions :) We are all in this together :)

I agree with Sabrina that going without prescription meds is the best approach.

Our bodies got into this condition, I think, primarily because of stress. there are many, many different kinds of stress and one of them is what we put into our bodies that is not natural. More research is being done on this and it seems to be showing that people who have taken a lot of prescription medication in their lives, especially antibiotics, are more likely to end up with chronic conditions such as CFS, Epstein-Barr, and Fibromyalgia. people who take a lot of prescription meds to counter the condition of fibro usually end up getting worse and worse, having to take more and more meds, and so on.

Morphine, as you know, is highly addictive, and I suggest that you go off it. In the long run it will do you a lot more damage than good. You live in a state where medical cannabis is available, and I recommend you try that. Also, try going on a new program in which you take into account all of the things that have an impact on this condition, and which I have listed several times on this forum. (If you don't have the energy to look it up I will list them for you here).

The only medications I have tried that has success for me is --for back pain only -- two Advil and a muscle relaxant taken at the same time. doesn't do a thing for other kinds of pain, such as legs or shoulders or headaches, etc. The only thing that works pretty consistently for me for other pain is medical cannabis. It took a lot of experimentation to learn how and when to use it and the dosage but it has helped a lot. You just need to experiment and find what works for you.

You have to do your own experimentation, but start with the basics of taking proper care of yourself.

I was told by my doctors that pain meds are not good for fibromyalgia. I have other conditions that warrant pain medication but I will not put myself on them.
If you want to try the lyrica, start at the lowest dose possible and move up from there. I'd give it 2 weeks for your body to adjust to the medication.
Mine wasn't caused from stress. I was in several car accidents and ended up with it that way. Before 2006,I never seen a Dr. Now it seems like I am seeing one all the time.

Hi Drummer...................I guess I should have clarified more what I mean by stress. As I mentioned there are many different kinds of stress and having a car accident, let alone several, is one kind of serious stress on anyone's body. Eating poor food puts stress on the body too, as well as many other things. People think that "stress" only means what happens in the mind (that's how I viewed it too until I learned more about it), but the body is under stress any time that it is not being given the environment in which it can thrive. Those car accidents put a lot of stress on your body (and, no doubt, your mind as well). Many people develop Fibro after having an accident or a series of them.

I understand it now and makes sense. Thanks for clarifying it for me. My mind doesn't think very well anymore! Damn fibro has me in shambles over here some days.

Hi bluebutterfly - I'm sorry to hear that nothing is helping your pain. I understand completely how frustrating and hopeless that can make you feel. I am currently trying cymbalta, I haven't seen a noticeable difference yet with pain (on a low dose) but it does NOT make me feel tired or foggy. I have also recently gone to see a chiropractor once a week to see if that can help reduce any symptoms. I've gotten to the point where it's just about testing something and then seeing what works. The worst part is having to wait to see if anything helps. Everyone is different and some things work wonders for some people.

I personally don't have access to medicinal cannabis but I have heard great things. I hope you can find something that helps❤
