Chronic UTI’s

There's quite the debate on cranberry and UTIs. some doctors or naturopaths say it helps and others say it doesn't do a thing. It's impossible to know what is true. To my knowledge there have been no scientific peer-reviewed studies on the effectiveness of cranberry on UTIs, and without that thorough course of strict double-blind testing and medical exploration, there are no facts available.

(If there actually has been a scientific study and the results are available I'd like to know that, and where to find the papers)

Cranberry is unlikely to harm a person, though. So, if you think it helps, go for it. Why not.

I used to drink cranberry juice when I got a UTI, but I never noticed that it helped and cranberry juice is expensive unless you buy the watered-down junk full of sugar ( which I won't touch, and has so little actual cranberry in it that it wouldn't help anyway), so I stopped using it when I get a UTI, and instead just go to urgent care and get medication that knocks it out.

I've read that It is also common for people with Fibromyalgia to experience a frequent need to urinate and pain during urination. Studies found that when Fibromyalgia impact was worse, pelvic and bladder symptoms were also worse.

Yes I’ve read that.it’s so hard to know if u have a UTI or if it’s fibro.this won’t sound nice ok but I’ve found if I have a UTI my pee and underwear smells different.

Not quite as specific, I don't think, just generally different sorts of bladder problems. My pain is before, not during urination. In my case I first also thought my symptoms were worse in a flare, turns out they often aren't in my case. My physio (acupressurist) has done & shown me palpating my belly, and since I've been doing it regularly (first thing in the morning in bed and sometimes throughout the day) frequency and pain is much reduced, I hope that's gonna continue more than just the last few days...!

My cousin just died because of UTI. Apparently, he'd been dealing with it for days. The doctor said he should have been brought to the hospital and catheterized. It was kidney failure in the end.

I know it sounds silly but baking soda works for UTI. I tried this before. I was having a fever and it was really painful to urinate. I drank warm water with diluted 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and after about 20 minutes, I urinated and it was one of the most satisfying moments of my life.. I felt better and surprisingly I was okay.

Sorry to hear that flex, how awful and sad sending you big hugs .
But I’d like to reassure everyone not every UTI will hurt you.,and clearly you need to seek medical advice with every UTI

Interestingly, GABA ('the original') is not just helping me a lot with sleep, energy, exhaustibility and stiffness, but also with much less frequent need for urination. The mentioned pain is perhaps slightly better too....
(I take it with magnesium, glutamic acid and passion flower. Hope it's not gonna habituate, which is what I've been reading.)
