What was the worst thing have you ever done to your self in time of desperation?

Let’s please be careful about posting too much gory details. There are folks here who are struggling with suicidal ideation and self-harm that might be triggered by reading these details. Rather, can we direct our discussion to the solutions or methods that helped us deal with these desperate...

Jennifer Brea's documentary: "Unrest" - on iTunes

I downloaded the “Unrest” documentary on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. Whew! It was well done, but I couldn’t watch it in one sitting. Very emotional. I hope the documentary brings about more awareness of ME, and more funding towards research. Does Fibromyalgia have an equivalent in...

    What made you smile today?

Received a copy of a newly published book in the mail. One of my art works (that I created on a "good day") was used in the book. I'm very happy. Even having these debilitating illnesses won't totally stop my artistic drive. I just won't let it.

    Ssd

Congratulations, TipBill! You did it! You got through the SS disability application process! I hope that the ssdi gives you and your family a bit of financial relief. One bit of advice - since you mentioned earlier that you are married (and assuming that you are filing jointly, and your base...

Fibro Fog, frustrating and psychiatrist issue

MelCat, I also applied for Social Security disability benefits and was sent to a psychiatrist by SSA for a consultative exam (CE). For me the exam was quite comprehensive and thorough. The dr. spent about 30 mins. interviewing me where I was given the opportunity to tell him about my "brain...

    Driving.

"Creepy"? You gals are too nice. What occurred was SEXUAL HARRASSMENT in my eyes. If it had been me in the driver's seat, I would have returned immediately to the school and have a serious talk with the director/owner and tell him/her exactly what happened. "Forgetmenot", if you weren't...

    What made you smile today?

Received a hand-written letter (remember those?) from my dear 89-year old aunt. In the inspiring letter she wrote of highlights from the past year. Yes, it definitely is the "little things in life that ARE the the big things". Just ask any wise older person who has been around the block. :)

    showering

I need a frequent hot shower in the morning to help with the pain and stiffness of my lower-back due to DDD. What I find useful are a plastic shower stool, so I don't need to stand while showering. Also, have switched out my regular shower head for a Waterpik handheld-type with a long hose...

is this my heart? or muscle in back?

I don't think I should give medical advice, esp. since I'm not a dr., and I don't even know your medical history. But what you mentioned above concerns me. If I were you, I'd definitely make an appt. to see my pcp. Even if it was found to be nothing serious, better safe than sorry. Take care.

If anyone else is wondering about this, I just wrote my 15th posting and noticed that I now finally have private mail option. And I have been a member of this forum for 4 months. :)

    What made you smile today?

I got this idea from another forum and thought it a great idea to start here. Sometimes our health issues can really get the better of us and bring us down. It is at these low points that thinking about something that makes me smile or feel grateful will help bring me out of my slump...
