    What pain killers?

Be careful with strong painkillers. Once you are addicted to codeine based drugs your mind and body can start to create more pain in order to get the drug. I know it may sound crazy but I know from first hand experience. Now I get by with ibuprofen and a kick of caffeine to get it working a...

    IBS and probiotics

Started taking Align about 45 days ago and my IBS has gotten 100% better. I no longer have any IBS symptoms. Tried the yogurt before that but it didn't work nearly as well. It took a few weeks to notice changes but I strongly recommend it to people suffering from IBS.

    Fibromyalgia or depression

As other have said it's best for you to talk to your doctor about this. Reading stuff on the internet can sometimes do more harm then good. The human brain is an odd organ that can sometimes play games with the rest of our body. Are the antidepressants helping with the depression?

    Keeping up with Physical Exercise

I find just doing everyday activities can help, stuff like walking my dog, vacuming or painting a wall. Lift weights and such really isn't an option. Here's an old article about exercise for people with FMS that helped me. A Patient's Guide to Fibromyalgia Exercise

    Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the forums, hope we can help your mother cope with this terrible condition. As for fibromyalgia being hereditary it's not really known. Studies have shown that certain families tend to have a higher amount of cases then others but nobody knows for sure.

    How Do You Cope?

Anything to get my mind off it. The more I think about it the worse I feel. A good movie can really help when I'm stressing out over it.

    Am I being silly?!

I thought the same thing at first but as others have said you know your body better then doctors. I think the key is to not stress yourself out over this as stress can make symptoms far worse.

    First symptoms of Fibromyalgia

I started experiencing muscle spasms or tightness in my legs, lower body cramps, fatigue, general stiffness when I woke up, IBS, and other abdominal issues. At first I thought maybe it was just the start of a cold/flu but when the symptoms didn't go away I realized it was something else.
