    Having a flare...*whine*

I huuurrrttttt, and I am stiff and my knees are wobbly and my balance sucks and my hands are clumsy and I feel crazy and I hate to have to keep asking for help, but my husband just FORGETS that I feel like shit and can't just get up and get a glass of water or a snack. And I have these damn...

    Gaining Weight?

Meds making you gain weight is THE WORST. Especially because the weight gain causes other problems or exacerbates the ones you've already got. I'm so sorry...no advice, but plenty of aggravation on your behalf.

    What food makes you worse?

I am in the process of finding this out! I was recently diagnosed with microscopic colitis, and went on a very restricted diet to heal my innards, while waiting for my testing for food sensitivities to be completed. After 2.5 weeks I feel better than I have in YEARS - the pain (body pain AND...

    Sjogren's Syndrome

I have Sjogren's syndrome as well. OMG the eye dryness - a few times my eyes got all inflamed and I was blind....scariest thing in the world to me. I take Restasis right now with good results. I was diagnosed with Lymphocytic Colitis (after 27 years of diarrhea!) a few weeks ago. Apparently...

Doxycycline helping stiffness, but still having flare

It has anti-inflammatory properties and also is used for dry eyes, which I also have as part of Sjogren's syndrome. It did used to be used regularly for inflammatory arthritis. It's not *the best* for longterm use, but it's pretty decent for mid-term use under certain circumstance. It's...

Doxycycline helping stiffness, but still having flare

Well well, as it turns out, the doxycycline started giving me esophagitis this week, and thanks to you, Karmakitten, I was primed to wonder if it was the doxy, rather than assume it was something else. I take the pills at night and go to bed right after. They are sticky, and apparently that...

Doxycycline helping stiffness, but still having flare

Still doing great. Occasional soreness - much less than before, and still no stiffness unless I miss a couple of doses in a row (overnight with girl scouts, forgot to bring it). I am walking 3 miles (sometimes hills) 4-5 times a week. OMG, that alone is stupendous! I haven't been able to...

Doxycycline helping stiffness, but still having flare

Oops, posted in wrong place...maybe this is right one I had surgery on my tear duct a few weeks ago and am on 2 mos of doxycycline because it thins the mucus or somesuch. I realized about a week in that I was feeling GREAT - getting in and out of bed, car, couch with no stiffness or pain...

HELP! 1st Rheumo Appt - What to do?

That's frustrating! One of the things that drove me to the rheum was that I used to do triathlons, ran daily...swam a lot, did yoga several times a week, and now I can't excercise *at all* - even a short walk - without a ridiculous amount of pain after. For a long time I thought I just had...

    An Actual Diagnosis

JEALOUS! I finally got to see a rheum after MONTHS of waiting. He really listened to me, but he also seemed like he was so familiar with the symptoms that he didn't really want me to get into a lot of detail. Granted, I wasn't hurting much that day, but still. I wanted to tell someone who...

    Pain waking up

Definitely morning is worst for me, but if I sit still for long periods (agh, movies! But even restaurants), I'll have a lot of pain and horrible stiffness (walk bent over, limpy) that makes me feel like a 95 year old. Also if I have to get up from a table at the end of a meal in a restaurant...

    Sudden fatigue time of day

Mine comes and goes - there will be weeks when I have to leave work and go take a nap, or I fall asleep the minute I get home and weeks when I don't need a nap. It's a lot worse when it gets dark early. The time will be consistent over that week/10 days, but might be different the next time.

    When they don't understand

Thanks Trellum. Yes, in fact we had quite a heated discussion about it. He had put a lot of effort into making sure we were in a location where I could get to stores easily, and where there is a sauna and hot tub and even hot springs while they all ski, so it's not like he was completely...

    When they don't understand

I'd like to add a complaint about when they don't understand/are just in crazy denial. My mobility has gotten a lot more limited in the last few months - each month I have a big flare, and each month is progressively worse. My husband decided we had to go on a spring break ski trip, so he...
