    Cymbalta

I hate this drug - I tried to go off it because the side effects were brutal, I reduced bead by bead for 4 years and then my pain got worse and now my dose is increased again because the doctor says I need it. If I wasn't going off another drug right now, I'd try to get off this again and will...

Opioid long term use and increased pain

Hi - I was given Tramadol about 15 years ago and have been on it ever since. My fibro pain has dramatically worsened in the last 3 years and my doctor wants me to get off the drug because he says it can cause opioid-induced hyperalgesia - or increased pain. Has anyone else experienced this? or...

Medication Free after being newly diagnosed (Amitriptyline, Gabapentin)

I'm in the process of going off tramadol and its not easy - its taking months, but after learning about the side effects of the drug I am committed to getting off. Unfortunately, it was working for my pain. I am like you in that most of the meds given for pain are too much for me and I can't...

Is it Fibro or a torn muscle?

I saw my doctor today and its my SI joint and my pelvis and hip bones out of whack - and yes, he recommended seeing an osteopath. I used to have my physiotherapist manually push my pelvis back into the right position years ago. So I'll give the osteopath a try - I am taking a lot of different...

Is it Fibro or a torn muscle?

Hi - I've had severe pain in and around my hip for about 7 weeks now and its not improving - I see my doctor this week, but last time I saw him before Xmas he didn't address the pain there at all. Its impacting my ability to stand and walk and climbing stairs. How can I tell if this is a flare...

Interesting article: Autoimmunity and Neuroinflammation in Fibromyalgia

If you read the study you will see that they injected rodents with samples from fibro sufferers and the subsequent changes to the animals brought about auto immune responses - they need to pursue this scientifically.

Only get pains when doing something....

My pain is there all the time - it feels better when I do yoga but most other activities cause an increase of pain. I think its the gentle stretching and deep breathing that helps with the yoga. I also try every night to do a few simple stretches before getting into bed.

Interesting article: Autoimmunity and Neuroinflammation in Fibromyalgia

I just read the article and its fascinating - so thank you Jemima - you always post interesting things. I need to reread it again (and again) to absorb it all. I think it makes a lot of sense with my FM and my personal experiences. The study was just in 2021 so that's pretty new and important. I...

    Fibromyalgia doesn't exist

If you don't believe fibromyalgia is real, then why are you here on this board? The medical community has formally recognized it as a medical condition.

Morbid Greetings from GTA Ontario, Canada

Hi There! I hate duloxetine too - I've been trying to get off it for years, and my doctor keeps insisting i need it, and more of it. I totally get your post - this condition is awful and it seems impossibly hard for others to understand what you are going through. I find I have to keep...

just need to vent/whine/complain a little...

I find every time I see my doctor or have a test or xray I end up in worse pain for a few days from whatever I have to physically do - bend over, twist, lie flat, etc. Treatments like injections also always make me sick with pain for a few days afterwards - but you gotta get through it. There's...

Hi Faustina - I've been put on many different meds over the last 20 plus years and I also have found the side effects worse than the pain. I am going off my opioids right now and even with withdrawal symptoms, I feel better. I would like to get off all meds now that my life is less stressful.

New here. Was wondering if you all noticed what I noticed...

If you want to go off Cymbalta I recommend joining the FaceBook group Cymbalta Hurts Worse. They have guidelines for safely going off the drug. It is one of the most difficult drugs to get off so please follow the protocols. Also, there's a big community of people (over 30,000 last time I...

Anyone not on drugs for Fibro?

I think Teitelbaum is writing from an honest place - his primary intent is to simplify supplements for those suffering from Fibro (though I don't like the constant "ads" for his products). There are a lot of supplements available to treat yourself with and if you aren't familiar with them or...
