    Men don't have Fibromyalgia! OSIT

The evidence that men get fibro too is to great to ignore. Here's an article that talks about it a little bit .I'd get a 2nd opinion by another Dr. before you rule it out -maybe a naturopath or rheumatologist- someone who is more understanding & knowledgeable about your symptoms, and you may...

    Sick of Trying New Things

I've never been able to stay on any medication long enough to know whether they are helpful, my side effects are too severe. Amitripoline is the 2nd thing my Doc gave me to try. I lasted 3 days then had to stop, not sure how to describe it other than I felt drowsy but got anxious, and felt...

    Sick of Trying New Things

Thanks terbaer, it is good to remember that we're not alone. I've been learning to cope and see the positives more in my situation more lately. Symptoms or no symptoms, I've still got a life to live. I hope and pray that you find relief and ways to cope. Thanks again

    Cleansing/Detox?

Agreed fibetoronto most Dr's are way too quick to dish out drugs instead of trying to actually get to the causes of our symptoms. Keep me posted on how your testing goes. I'm also doing some different tests with my naturopath, waiting for the results. In the mean time, I cope as best I can...

    Cleansing/Detox?

No Rottiedog, I haven't tried the autoimmune diet. I have done an elimination diet before, but that didn't seem to improve my symptoms (except I did less headaches). Have you tried it? And if so, did you find it helped?

    Sick of Trying New Things

Today I tried a sleep pill, and it only made me dehydrated, anxious, and drowsy (but not able to fall asleep). Last couple things I've tried have been equally ineffective and had bad side affects. I'm just so sick of convincing myself to try something that I think/hope will make me feel better...

    Considering to stop working

She should be honest with herself. If she is barely getting through each work day and feels like her health and her work is suffering because of overdoing it at the job, then I would say that she should stop working. I am in a similar place to your friend, after a year of working where I was on...

    Extreme Sensitivity to stimulants

I have a problem: I am drastically sensitive to any stimulants. I've always been very affected by even tiny amounts of caffeine (although that didn't stop me from consuming a lot of it in college, probably to my detriment). The "high" really brings me up, but with that I also get very irritable...

Wondering how Fibro makes YOU feel.

You are def. not alone, tiredofitall. As a 25-year-old, I feel your pain and I'm sorry that it's been so bad for you. Good job on quitting smoking, I think the less things we come to rely on as crutches to get us through, the better we off we are. A few things that work for me are consuming some...

    Naltrexone?

Wondering if anyone has ever used the drug naltrexone? My naturopath was telling me about it. Apparently at high doses it's used to combat narcotics abuse, but at lower doses is supposed to really reduce pain and help those with fibro with no side affects. Curious if anyone has tried it or had...

    Cleansing/Detox?

I have been told by multiple people that I would benefit from a full detox of my system, particularly purging the colon & liver. I have done a juicing cleanse before, but the last time I tried a legit detox (it was a heavy metal detox) I had to stop after 2 days, it was so intense. Just...

    Writing therapy

I hear you ambrosia, sometimes I just sit and write, and most of it isn't anything good or that I would be proud of, just thoughts and wishes and hopes and remorse and prayers and jokes and whatever else is floating around in my head. This and walking are my main sources of therapy. Glad it...

    Guaifenasin anyone?

I read about this then tried it for a few weeks, cutting out salicylates and everything, and it did nothing but make me very drowsy. Yet another of the hundreds of things I've tried that hasn't worked for me. Maybe it works better on certain people- there are some people who swear by it. I am...

    Stretching

I was referred by my Dr. to a physical therapist for my fibro symptoms. She gave me some good stretches that improve mobility and get blood flowing to the muscles. I try to do them right before bed, as they do seem to help me sleep better, then I do a few when I wake up, cause that's when I'm...

    is pain mental or physical?

I'd say both, because the physical pain is a mental response of the brain's synapses going "Hey, something is wrong, that doesn't feel good!" So it takes both a physical and mental response...but if your talking physical vs. emotional, that's a whole different ballpark!
