    How Do You Cope?

Is anyone using hot and cold therapy as a method of treatment for the pain? I've read that this can be useful. Using a heating pad is one option, or a cold compress. I'm not sure, exactly, how well these forms of therapy work for someone who is dealing with chronic pain, but I can imagine any...

Telltale Signs and Symptoms of Fibromyalgia?

Thanks for this list of symptoms. It's quite interesting. Some of these symptoms can likely be confused for other illnesses and disorders. For example, the whole abdominal pain thing, that could easily be looked at as IBS, which is something my mom has along with her FIBRO.

A little information on what Fibromyalgia is

This is a good way to break it down. Thank you for this. I probably never would have thought of it this way but now that you have pointed it out, it actually makes sense.

    Someone else?

Thanks KNH55 for the link. I checked it out and found it informative. I am still wondering why Fibromyalgia is something that primarily affects women. I know that there are some men sufferers, but I am still curious as to what it is that makes women more prone to Fibro. Does anyone know the...

    Someone else?

My mom has been the first diagnosed in our family. However, that is not to say that ancestors didn't have the condition. I think the diagnosis of FIBRO is still relatively "new" and so our ancestors may have had it without even realizing it. In fact, they may have even been misdiagnosed.

    Keeping up with Physical Exercise

I would suggest water exercises. Swimming could help. I would also highly recommend performing exercise in a few feet of water, as it is said to be more comfortable. I am a freelance writer and I have recently had to write on the benefits of water exercise as a form of pain management, along...

    Risk Factors for Fibromyalgia

Darn. Looks like I could possibly suffer from this condition in the future. My mother has been diagnosed, so that would be the genetics part. I am also female. I would hate to go through what you all go through, it is such a challenge. I give credit to those who are dealing with the frustrating...

    First symptoms of Fibromyalgia

My mom began feeling tired more often than not. She also had pain that she could not explain. It seems pain is one of the leading beginning symptoms, at least from what I have read and heard. My mom also had depressed feelings, but she thought that was simply depression because it runs in the...
