    Going on a cruise

I leave from Orlando on Saturday for a Caribbean cruise. It's a fundraising cruise for a charity I support with 186 of us coming from numerous different countries. I have tried to plan ahead as much as possible with my fibro and arthritis in mind Walking for more than a few minutes is very...

    Taste

I've been noticing it as well. Things don't taste bad, just different. I stopped taking Lyrica five days ago, so I'll see if my taste buds come back.

    Finally diagnosed - mixed emotions

Mine came as a shock, too. Even though my family doctor told me that I probably had it, when the rheumatologist said it, it just made it more real. All of my life, I've been accused of faking it to 'get attention', and I probably started to believe that, too. I completely understand the feeling...

    genetics

"Increasing evidence supports a strong genetic component to fibromyalgia. Siblings, parents, and children of a person with fibromyalgia are eight times more likely to have fibromyalgia than those who have no relatives with the condition. I have a cold

Last November, my cold was so bad that I cracked three ribs from all the coughing. This is my first cold of the season, and every time I cough or sneeze, my ribs ache, and my fear is that they'll crack again. Add sinus pain, and an earache to my fibro, and you have one miserable Abby. Nighttime...

    Beds and pillows

My bed is about 11 years old, so I'm due for a new one. I've heard about beds made for chronic pain sufferers. Does anyone have any insight into them? Are some pillows better than others?

    It all makes sense now

Hi Sagey, Thanks for the advice. Yup, there's been weight gain. My fingers a perpetually puffy, too. I'm also finding I'm much more absent-minded since I've been on Lyrica, and it's negatively affected my job performance. I haven't told management about the fibromyalgia, but I'll have to soon...

    temperature issues?

I can't regulate my temperature at all, but I tend to always run hot, never cold. I have a fan that I use at work, while others are huddled around the small heater. I go outside without my coat done up to cool off, but it only dries the damp perspiration on my front, but I'm still sweating on my...

    It all makes sense now

Hi everyone. I'm Abby. I was officially diagnosed in February of this year by a rheumatologist, but my family doctor put me on Lyrica before Christmas. I've been in pain for years, but blamed myself for it. I was (and am) overweight, and that's society's first answer to any fat person's health...
