I have Fibromyalgia and I’m feeling so alone, the pain is so random and I can’t help but think it’s linked to my periods. I’ve just stopped taking the pill and got a coil but I’m so scared of the pain as it’s been coming back again after stopping Yasmin. I had 13 trigger point injections in my back 2 months ago and felt a bit better for a while, does anyone else have any trigger point injection advice should I get more? My back has big knots in it and they are so sore and it almost feels like they are lumps. I’m on Pregabalin and Amtryptilin and Sertraline, has anyone got any advice for me? I feel really sad atm, The pain specialist just tells me to take all this medication and I feel like I will never get better. Any help would be appreciated:)

hello Jennifer, I most definitely have flare ups at the time of my period and I have them even worse at ovulation time, im having it now in fact, I also have loads of knots in my back that feel like lumps I think that is normal with what we have, don't be scared I know its crap, you will have periods where you feel better, the warm weather in the summer may help you , it does me, I don't take medication from the doctors s o cant help you there, I use hot baths, vitamins, paracetamol, swimming is good when the weather warms up, a gentle walk each day if you can manage it, I tend to try and manage mine naturally even though it is severe, my doctors are hardly involved apart from when I was diagnosed and they found I had arthritis in my hands, don't worry you wont have that mine came on early from genetic preposition. You will learn to manage Jennifer, don't let it take over your whole life easier said then done I know, but I have had it for 25 years and I still enjoy my life, you wont always feel this bad , I have days where I feel almost normal ! sorry if ive been no help but the main thing is you are not alone, I get sad sometimes, I understand and so does everybody else on here x

I use a handheld massager to help with those knots. Currently they are in arms and shoulders

hello, yes a handheld massager is a good idea, I am always twisting round trying to rub them myself and then I make it worse!

I am so sorry you are experiencing this. Looking back, when I still had periods (before my fibro dx & partial hysterectomy) & now in menopause, I see how hormones affect my fibro symptoms. For knots in my back, I use TENS, EMS & tennis balls(in knee-high socks to place & grab) laying in bed or on floor. If knots are particularly hurtful, stubborn I will apply Biofreeze or Salpas first.
Sending you light and health.
