Hi All,
I am new here and recently diagnosed with what they think is fibro, I had severe shingles about 5 years ago which I got over after 2 weeks, however the nerve pains have never gone away. I suffer so much with numb legs and feet, muscle wastage and RLS. I am also diabetic and find that high blood glucose seems to make things worse so I try and watch the carbs, the thing that is really depressing me is the difficulty in walking some days, I feel like a drunk woman and have terrible lower back pain when walking. The most annoying thing is I can have days when I am the old me, pain free, dancing around. Stress definitely seems to trigger flares which can last between 1 few days to a few months, it feels like I am being stabbed all over, please tell me others are like this.

Hi @sparkalee and welcome to the forum.
Fibromyalgia is a capricious thing, and pretty much no matter what symptoms you are having, there's going to be someone who's not had those, and others who have had the exact same experience, or close to it. If you stick around here, ask questions and tell your own experience, you may learn quite a bit. We are all here to help each other, so let us know what we can do to help you.

My suggestions, (for what they are worth):
Consider seeing a good chiropractor ab out your low b ack pain, and also getting an x-ray or MRI if you have not already done so, to find out if it is a spinal issue that might be correctable.
As you note, stress is one of the things that makes fibromyalgia pain worse, and this is pretty much the only thing that is true for all of us. Find whatever way you can to reduce the stress in your life, avoid toxic people and relationships or if you can cut them from your life entirely.
And revel in and enjoy the days you feel good, BUT.....don't overdo it on those days. Sometimes we can get into a vicious circle of feeling good one day so you do a lot of things and have fun or work hard, then pay for it dearly for a few days with pain, and then when you have a good day it feels so good that you overdo it again. I have gone through that and it's hard to train yourself to pace your activities even when you feel good, but this is one of the best things you can learn.

There's a post pinned at the top of the General forum that has a bunch of other info and suggestions....you might like to check it out.
I hope the forum is useful for you.
