My story begins about seven months ago. I woke up one morning with horrible dizziness, nausea, and headaches. I visited my PCP who initially thought I was having migraines and that this pain would go away. The pain didn't go away and so when I returned, he ordered a CT scan of my brain which came back clear.

I begin to get tingling and numbness in my arms, legs, and face and was having some back pain in May of this year I went back to the doctor who ordered an x-ray of my back where they told me that I had a compressed disk in my back. Doctor prescribed list of exercises to do daily. Exercises were painful and so I have been unable to do them.

I also had some additional blood work done and I was informed that I had tested positive for Lyme. So I was referred to an Infectious Disease Specialist at KU Med who thought that I had a false positive. He stated that in the Western blot you need 4/10 antibodies to be diagnosed and that I only had one and it was a common one that many people already have. I had activity on 2 of the 3 IgM and this triggered the positive result. I did a two week cycle of doxycyclin between the time I met with the PCP and the Infectious Disease Specialist.

The tingling and the numbness didn't go away so in June, I was referred to a neurologist who performed the standard strength and balance tests and I passed them all. I was referred for an MRI of my brain to rule out MS at that time and it was labeled as unremarkable with and without contrast. I was also told by the neuro that I in fact had a compression fracture of the t-11 instead of a compressed disk.

I began having pains all over my body including my scrotum area. I had a sonogram of that area as well as having my prostate checked. Both tests were normal. I've been checked for a hernia by a urologist and that came out normal.

I have also had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy and those came back normal.

My symptoms were not getting better so in July I had an MRI done of my back and spinal column to see if there was anything that could be causing my continued symptoms. The MRI came back normal.

About two weeks ago, I had a physical and worked out that evening. I was unable to get myself calmed down and went to sleep, I woke up in the middle of the night with cramps in both of my calves. I had cramps in my calves two of the next three nights before going to the ER. They prescribed diazepam and I didn't have cramps for the next two nights. I didn't take the medicine because I was going back to work and that first night I had a cramp so I went to my PCP. He ran more blood tests and everything checked out normal except I had an aldolase level of 19.2. He has referred me to a rheumatologist and I am waiting to hear back from them.

I am still having back pain, some tingling in my forehead and ears, occasional burning sensations, and both of my hips are aching. These burning sensations occur mainly on my face and ears and on the inside of my left leg near my groin. My hips don't hurt all the time but they ache and the pain is dull. I have been having a sharp pain on my left side right above my hip that comes and goes. Both of my legs feel like they have pulled muscles and I have pain behind both of my knees. I also am having some muscle twitching throughout my body but mainly in my calves.

I apologize for the long post but any insight provided would be great.

I mentioned it on my previous thread but you could possibly have candida overgrowth. You can look it up online & see the symptoms.

But you did say that you have a compressed disc on your back so I'm not sure but it's worth checking out.. cos Candida overgrowth is somewhat linked to Lyme disease (which you were tested positive) so yea..

Goodluck! <3

Have you seen a neurologist and been tested for neurological diseases? Your condition needs more investigation. Also be checked for Lymes disease.
While fibro effects everyone differently it seems you may have more going on then just fibro. Good Luck! :)

Jay, Just curious if you have had any problems sleeping and how has your energy level been. For me, I have a terrible time sleeping and most of the morning my energy feels just drained. Not to mention the full body pain that I am dealing with.

I have seen a neurologist. The only tests that were done were the strength, balance tests, reflexes, etc. I have also had an MRI of my brain, neck, and spinal column. The MRI's were normal except the one for my neck indicated that I have reverse normal curvature of the neck whatever that means. I have been checked for Lyme's Disease as well. I tested positive for Lyme but the doctor at KU Med thought I had a false positive because I was lacking some markers and antibodies to indicate that my body had been fighting off the disease. I have done a 15 day cycle of doxycyclin. The Infectious Disease specialist at KU said that would be all that they prescribe as they do not treat chronic Lyme disease.

My sleeping has been fine minus the week or so I was having cramping. I had a difficult time falling back to sleep. I sleep probably 6-8 hours a night but I wake up exhausted every morning. My wife says this has been going on for as long as she's known me (12 years).

I've seen so many diverse symptoms that I think that sleeping well it's a major plus, at least in those 6-8 hours per day you can get your rest.

Woah, it looks like you have gotten all the tests you could ever need done! Good job, specially on the MRI's... you got to have such a nice doctor! I had such a hard time trying to convince my doctor to give me a referral for a brain MRI despite my bad (and recent headaches). A lot of your symptoms sound like mine in the last months... I haven't gotten a spine MRI done tho.

I really think all those symptoms are related to your spine problem, I'm pretty sure my spine is involved in mine, because I also get those damn cramps from time to time, specially when the weather is bad! It feels as if my leg muscles were twitching! Scary as heck! I really think you should see a second opinion, regarding to your spine...

Thanks, the MRI was requested by the neurologist. Initially it was requested by my PCP but was denied by the insurance company since I had a CT scan on my brain that came back normal. The MRI on my back and spinal column was requested by my PCP since I was having issues with the compression fracture. I hope you're right about the spine problems. It's just scary with the numbness, tingling, twitching, and the burning sensations that are going through my body and hopefully the rheumatologist can explain the elevated Aldolase levels.

I really think it is, I mean, your brain MRI came back clear! So at least we are sure it's not a tumor (that's the most common cause of numbness and tingling in a lot cases) or MS, so you can be sooooo happy about that :) Hopefully you get your results soon and can know for sure what's going on, but from here it really sounds like it's your spine the one to blame!
