I think what you are talking about is a TENS unit? You put pads on your skin/muscles and it shocks them and flexes them right? I have one. I don't have ALS, (its my dad) I use it for chronic back pain and fibromyalgia. If my muscles feel really tight and they are hurting I will use them to loosen the muscles up and it helps the pain go away. I have heard of people using it for ALS, but not for building muscles, just to try and relax them like what I do. I love my TENS unit!
