Hello, this is my first time in a forum. Please excuse me.
A family member have been dealing with fibromagia for more than 15 years. Around 6 months ago, she started having strong pain on the chest and prolonged palpitations. All of this ocurred exactly after falling asleep, either at night or at the time of taking a nap. So, she sleeps no more than 4 hours every days. She feel exhausted. She had been in the hospital 5 times. But the problem continues.....Have you heard about any case like these? Many, many thanks in advance.

Hi Bernie,
heart palpitations and chest pain are not a common part of fibromyalgia. What did the doctors say when she was in the hospital? did they run tests? Has she seen a cardiologist?
The best thing is for her to see a cardiologist. They can do the pertinent tests to find out if it is medical in nature and requires treatment. If there is nothing found from those tests, it may actually be panic or anxiety attacks, but you won't know until those tests are run. She should have an EKG for starters if she has not already had one, and there are other tests they will want to do.

Let us know if we can be of help.

Being in hospital to me means everything incl. heart has been checked. If that's not the case, then I agree with sunkacola.

If the docs have already checked everything:
I always prefer good physiotherapists for local pains to doctors. Most of them, incl. orthopedists, are not trained to see the details of muscles, fasciae etc. in any way at all (Me: 50 docs in the last 2 years, 100(?) docs in my life; 5 orthopedists in 2 years, 8 in my life).
I would like all symptoms separate and look for triggers for the chest pain and for the palpitations, but also see the interaction: chest pain can cause immediate anxiety, can cause palpitations; also perhaps the chest pain can directly cause palpitations; and palpitations e.g. from many issues can cause anxiety, can cause mental tension, can cause muscular tension, can cause chest pain. I say "can", but actually this is very common. Of course both decreases sleep.
So you have 4 problems you can all influence: chest pain; palpitations; anxiety; sleep.
I have most success with splitting symptoms/triggers up and working on all levels at the same time.
For chest pain you can ask body experts, I'd suggest several (esp. osteopath, acupressurist, acupuncturist etc.). Also for starters you can try youtube tutorials like Bob & Brad on "chest pain", just type exercises chest pain. Alleviating with heat or cold is not much help in the middle of the night, but I'd always have a hot water bottle or pad I can put on it, cos that alleviates and also comforts.
Same for palpitation exercises. For anxiety there are many breathing & relaxation types for first help, if that's not a big issue, but perhaps underlying. If it's a big issue I always went to books, forums and therapists and they always helped me.
For sleep I don't know what she's already doing. Before using chemicals there's a lot of natural stuff or herbs with less side effects.
Yoga Nidra (again see youtube) is something that helps with pseudo-sleep even if someone can't sleep, it also relaxes, so reduces palpitations and anxiety a the same time, so it's something that works triple.
What do you think?

Thank you very much for your comments. She had tried almost every single specialist. She has a little bit of diabetes, arritmia. Fifteen years ago removed uterus. Thank you again!
