Blood tests- is it really fibro??

Went to the doctor with a long list of pain- arms, shoulders, elbows, wrists, swelling in hands and feet, cold hands- always, daily migraines, severe jaw pain, inability to lose weight, thought I had dementia, never feel rested...the list goes on and on.

Have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism but TSH was normal. Sent to an internal specialist who ran more tests. Anti-inflammatory markers high but other tests did not show Lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.

Diagnosed me with Fibro and said to take Lyrica.

Went to naturalpath as I did not like the answers. She did more blood work . Anti thyroid antibodies (TPO) should be 0-35 and mine are 397.7. My estrogen level is 348 while my progesterone level is 17 (believe they should be balanced or near one another).

It has been a 20 year struggle- 6 pregnancies, 2 miscarriages, early age for hysterectomy, constant migraines, all the symptoms of a thyroid issue, etc. Life is busy with 4 kids but 2 are old enough they now live on their own.

I need another opinion because now I am stuck between the doctor and the naturalpath. Suggestions? Is this really fibro if all this blood work came back the way it did. I'm thinking Harishimo but could it really be fibro?

Hi Mrsbann,

I'm not so sure this sounds like Fibromyalgia.
You said you had swelling in your feet and hands, and that does not necessarily go with typical Fibro symptoms.
Do you have bowel problems?
Do you have pain below the waist? Your hips , your knees.Also Your neck?
You don't seem to complain of any severe fatigue .You said you don't seem rested,but that could be a lot of things.
Maybe you should also see your gynecologist to get your hormone levels checked, since you had the hysterectomy.
Also did the Naturopath tell you you had Hashimotos? it's sounds confusing to me.

Maybe seeing another internist for a second opinion might help, but right now
It's unclear.

I wasn't sure if I should list all my symptoms but here they are:

pain- shoulders, knees, jaw, neck, hands, wrist, elbow
Severe shoulder pain since Nov
Wake up exhausted
Feel weak
Yawn all the time
Cold all the time
Dry skin
Can't tan compared to other years
Weight gain
increased difficulty losing weight
hair falling out and severely dry hair
Severely dry legs
Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
Irritability/ anxious
Memory lose and word finding (Can't think of words or mix up a word if I'm thinking of something)
Tender points or pain all over my body- neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms, and legs.
Trouble getting to sleep if I wake up in night
Headaches/ migraines
Tingling in hands
Swelling in ankles
Swelling in feet and hands ( they feel tight enough I have to take off rings)
Intense urgency when I have to go to bathroom


No bowel problems in a month as I started a lot of vitamins and such. I was always very constipated before that.

I do have Interstitial Cystitis.

Naturalpath thinks fibro and thyroid problem. They believe much is diet based so even to balance out my hormones I have gone no dairy, wheat, eggs, soy.

My doctor refused to do the blood work the naturalpath ordered so she has not seen the results yet.
