Hi!
So I would really appreciate some help on what is going on with me from people who maybe experiencing the same symptoms.
So a year ago I hurt my back and as a result I've got two slipped disks in my lower back. Since then I started with pains in my knees, ankles, feet and both hips. At first I put that down to my back problem. Then I started getting extremely tired but find it hard to settle to actually get some sleep. Then I was feeling utterly exhausted to the point I've even had to sleep at work!! I started getting headaches all the time, albeit sometimes not awful but still there. Now I feel like I've got a fuzzy head, constantly forgetting what I'm doing. Like mid sentence forget what I'm talking about. Writing at work stopping cos it's gone what I'm writing about, then the exhaustion is incredible when I'm concentrating. Then bad pains in my shoulders, arms, legs. Alot of cramps in my abdomen which I put down to trapped wind, PMT, some food I eat. Then I'm often having trouble going to the toilet for a number 2 and constantly at the toilet peeing. Supposed carpel tunnel in both hands, sore wrists, sore throats but no obvious reason and dry itchy eyes. I'm finding now if I do one thing I have to rest for a few days if possible cos I'm finding it hard to pull myself together. Thankfully work has altered my rota to enable me to rest more which is amazing. I'm seeing the Dr on Friday and I'm going to suggest fibromyalgia to her but I would like to know if possible if I'm going in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated ☺️

Hello holahola, and welcome to the forum.

First, what doctors have you seen about these issues, and what have they said?

It sounds to me as if you have a lot going on there, and this could be fibromyalgia but also could be something else, or could be several things all going on at once but being distinctly different things. When you see the doctor, list your symptoms in the order of their severity, and get tested for the various things that could be going on with you such as arthritis, IBS, problems stemming from your back (it is amazing what one issue in your back can cause in the rest of your body if it is not treated), and so on.

I would not recommend suggesting fibromyalgia to the doctor.

While there are exceptions, generally doctors do not want the patient to come in with a presumed or suggested diagnosis, and since fibromyalgia is still viewed by some in the medical profession as being a non-existent or purely psychosomatic condition, you may not get anywhere good with that approach. Instead, mention what is going on and let the doctor run whatever tests they think are appropriate, and go to whatever specialist they recommend.

Don't try to diagnose yourself or jump to any conclusions until everything that could be causing these things is explored. If you don't check everything out you could be missing out on being able to treat something and remove it from your symptoms. Remember that often one thing going wrong in one part of your body can and often does have cascading effects on other parts of your body. Take the time to explore all of it rather than assuming fibromyalgia.

Hi holahola,
I too have had fibromyalgia-like symptoms that began months after a case of Covid I got over a year ago.
I went to my Dr. He took a bunch of tests to rule out certain things like autoimmune diseases and such. The tests came back negative which was good.
I asked him after all that if it could possibly be Fibromyalgia. He said it was in the realm of possibilities but would take some time to diagnose. So for me it didn't hurt to ask. Now I just wait to see how the symptoms play out over time.
Good luck :)

Hi doll
I suffer with back problems, let me tell you they will give u massive headache, they will give you sciatica pains down the legs pains up your back pains down your arms.
A back back can make it hard to sleep .I don't know weather they give you any pain relief, but that will make your head fuzzy.
Yes you could have fibromyalgia but you could also be suffering from the back problems you have.if I were you I'd just give the Dr the symptoms don't go suggesting you've got fibromyalgia because then you put that in the doctor's head and they might not concentrate on anything else.If there any good they might think of that anyway.x
