Hi all, Has anyone else experienced this? I have been experiencing this for the past 2 years. It ebbs and flows but never fully goes away. It is on my right side mostly in my flank and mid back section, but most of my ribs are very tender to touch. I have had my liver values, and kidney values tested (all normal). The pain is idiopathic, but it is so real to me. A few weeks ago, it started to develop on my left side, but in the front after a bad cold. It is not going away - costochondritis I believe, but I fear it will be chronic like the other side. I am extremely fatigued and overwhelmed. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks

what did your doctor say it was after all the testing?

our skin is sore and it moves as our nerves are say spasming. they are rubbing on the skin making it tender to the touch.

do you have fibro? are the meds helping you?

as i have now broken my rib for the 3rd time. i feel your pain.

It might be Costochondritis; it's somewhat common for folks with Fibromyalgia and/or CFS. I have get it too. Very disconcerting. I was diagnosed with a Conversion Disorder when I told a neurologist about it. It turns out, we sufferers have to be our own advocates, and do exactly as you are doing - learn from others who've been there, and then educate our doctors.

I suffered for a few years on and off with rib pain. Turns out it was the mussels in between the ribs. Very very painful and I had to have muscle relaxants,so maybe that's what's wrong for u .

My ribs hurt often too. I think the muscles are in spasm when it happens.

Hi, many with fibro have this pain, i take some low dose meds and also use topical pain relievers in this area..that help a lot

Also use heat and a accupressure mat...we need multiple ways to treat some of these pains...

No one method takes out all the pain, but combined you can get a lot of relief

Hi there Freakout. I to have an issue with pain in my ribs. I've had it so bad that I ended up in the emergency room. The pain was 10 on a scale of 1-10. They gave me morphine for the pain. They did all kinds of tests, ct, ultrasound, and blood tests. Everything came back normal. (They thought it might be gallbladder) It wasn't until later that the rheumy told me that it was Chest Wall Syndrome (costocondritis). It was very scary until I knew what it was. I use muscle relaxants and warm showers. They help. I hope this helps you.
Gentle hugs to you.

Yes! I have been experiencing this for about a year and a half now. Every doctor blows it off! My ortho thought at one point I had ankylosing spondylitis but ruled it out due to negative blood tests. It is so severe after I wake up or am inactive for long periods of time. I take lots and lots of hot baths and sometimes can't bend to shave my legs due to the stiffness in my ribcage. It is mainly in my back/sides.
