I have very bad fibromyalgia fatigue & have found that coffee actually helps sometimes
does it help anyone else? My fatigue is usually really bad around 3 to 6pm

I drink coffee all the time because of this. It helps me too! It's certainly no miracle cure for FM Fatigue but it does help a lot.

I drink coffee most mornings, but if I drink it after about 1 or 2 in the afternoon I usually have a sleepless night, so I find other ways to deal with afternoon fatigue

I had to give up coffee, both regular and decaf it was causing to much inflammation for me. I now crash around 2-3pm. I miss my coffee an tea soooo much! I'm hoping reservatoll will help with fatigue but I will probably always miss coffee.

My husband finds that caffeine actually exacerbates the symptoms of his fibromyalgia...his doctor actually advised him against it, not just for the fibro symptoms but also to try and lessen his anxiety and depressive episodes. I guess it's probably different from person to person, and probably also a matter of how much caffeine you consume as to whether it would be a help or a hindrance. Hubby was a big coffee drinker before his diagnosis so that could probably be why his doc advised to avoid it.

I went on Adderall for sever fatigue and it of course works wonders but I wish I could find something natural to replace it with.

I used to drink about 6 cups of coffee per day just to cope with the fatigue. I learned over the years that the caffeine tends to exacerbate my other symptoms/conditions, so I cut caffeine out at one point, as much as possible, although even decaffeinated tea and coffee still have some caffeine.

I was able to work out more during that period, which helped give me the strength and energy boost to cope with life, but once I became injured on top of the chronic issues, I've had to resort back to using caffeine, although on a more limited basis. These days, I sometimes have 1-2 cups of coffee per day, and I drink water and decaffeinated tea the rest of the time. I am definitely one that experiences inflammation from caffeine, but I've learned that it's easier to trade off a little extra inflammation for my ability to function.

Personally, coffee doesn't really help me but that's because I've been drinking coffee for so long that I'm just used to the levels of caffeine in it. I drink energy drinks when I'm tired and have to stay up all day, they usually work really well for it and can help me make it through the day.

For those who avoid caffeine but love coffee.... have any of you tried chicory root or dandelion root coffees? I haven't myself, but have thought about it. Just wondering if anyone has found that they satisfy that desire for coffee without the caffeine problem.

Hi,
I have to have at least one cup of coffee in the morning. It takes me two hours to get going in the morning and the caffeine helps. caffeine and a hot shower no matter what temperature is. Sometimes if I don't nap in the afternoons (my fatigue can also get bad from the hours between 2-6pm) I have another cup of coffee. My naturopath didn't want me to stop having my morning coffee but wanted me to have breakfast first so that the coffee doesn't affect my insulin. I don't have diabetes but the fibro affects my blood sugars and I find if I have coffee first I have hypos during the day.
