Consider Hashimoto's (Underactive Thyroid) Disease

@Frizzybee Looks like the nhs is still using the 'old ranges'. My last thyroid blood check was October '24.

Serum TSH 5.59 ( ranges 0.35-5.5)
Serum free T4 14.2 (ranges 10.5- 21.0)

I was on levothyroxine 125 mg and the GP increased tbat to 150 mg. I have a re-test due this week so will await the outcome of those. The out of control thyroid seems the cause of many symptoms.

I've been using nothing but Stevia for about 15 years, so thanks for telling me that. I've started eating a few dates every day. I heard an offhand comment by a doctor on a video yesterday who said that Armor Thyroid causes hyper coagulation! I'd not heard that before.

SBee, Wow. 5.59 is considered high and I really hope you can get it down. I was put on 125 mcgs. of Levothyroxine the last time I tried to switch, and it made me into a happy, energetic person again, but it pushed my blood pressure well into stroke zone, so we started with 100 mcgs. this time. I am sleeping better, but think I may need to try 112 mcgs.

I know @Frbee i knew it was high and it just didnt feel right even after upping to 150 levothytoxine. I should get the test results back later this week. Gets frustrating when it seem sometimes the patient is the person who has to chase the checks, and then either decipher the results ( never a good idea seeing as we arent medical professionals) or again chase to ensure levels are ok.
I have also ( with drs ok) done a small increase or decrease with prescribed medications if the full dose is too much for the body to take all at once.

Good point about age having a bearing @johnsalmon. I will see if UK considers this factor. I just feel my levels were high ( over the UK accepted ranges) given that on testing levels 3 or 4 months ago I was already on a relatively 125 dose of thyroxine. Need to discuss with my gp later.

also down here every new born baby has a heel pick blood test to test the thyroid 1 in 4000 have a non working thyroid

Thats a surprising/shocking percentage. But a welcome chance to act promptly I hope. Thyroid imbalances do run in my family, my brother also having Addisons disease.

Marmicros - Can you tell me where to find that info about Stevia? I searched for it online and could not find it anywhere. I don't want to give up stevia unless I have to, since it helped me recover from pre diabetes and get back to normal. Thanks in advance....
