New here, I got diagnosed today or at least told of rheumatologist that I have fibromyalgia, over the last few months been having pains and stiffness in my hands and trigger finger in left little finger, doctor did blood tests which showed a positive rheumatoid factor, got transferred to rheumatologist which was today and he said it's not RA but fibromyalgia, now I'd never heard of this before and I've had a good read on it today, I have so many symptoms, I couldn't believe it, I've been waking up with a cloudy head as I explained it for years, I had anger and feeling very low, I was put on anti depressants for anxiety and depression, I'm now thinking that this could all be linked, not been put on any medication as of yet but told to just manage pain with anti inflammatorys for now and continue with the anti depressants, pain is manageable at min but just fatigue get me now and then where I'm just not motivated at work, sort of glad I've had this diagnosis though, explains a lot.
I'm tony and I'm 36yrs old.

Hi tony, welcome

Fibromyalgia is difficult to understand, even when you are the one experiencing it. I think it took me about a year to start to get a handle on it. My pain started in my hands too; I was really afraid I had RA because I have an elevated risk. But the blood tests said it wasn't RA, and the more I learned about fibro, the more I became convinced it is the right diagnosis.

The people here on this forum helped me out a lot - hopefully you will find this a welcoming and helpful place too

Welcome Tony. Just knowing what is causing the pain seems somehow satisfying to a degree. I have had blood testing done for the last 3 years to check for RA due to pain in my hands and feet that would come and go, always coming up negative but my doctors never tried to figure out what was causing it beyond ruling out RA, so I give your doctor props on getting you to a specialist to get it figured out. Like DK, I was worried about having RA because I have a family history of it, but I never thought about fibro even though I have a family member with that as well. It sounds like you have started off with a good doctor and that can be a big help on its own. This forum is a great resource too, for both information as well as support and understanding.
