I don't like taking any prescription medications, but I know we have to sometimes. I would rather do things through diet and lifestyle if at all possible.
I don't have a diagnosis yet, but I do have an appointment tomorrow with a rheumatologist after many different doctors, blood test, MRI's and a nerve study. The latest specialist is a neurologist and she is the first one that has mentioned fibromyalgia. My referral states, possible arthritis or fibromyalgia.
I was put on Gabapentin August 31 and switched to Lyrica October 6, all of this year. Depending on what the rheumatologist tells me, I want to take the minimal dose possible. My Lyrica was increased last week and I don't function as well because of the drowsiness and dizziness.
The long term side effects really scare me.
Everyone's definition of a healthy diet can vary. I can only do what works for me and what I feel is right for my body. I gave up grains about 18 months ago, I avoid sugar, processed foods and I really don't care at all for fast food. This summer I started eating fermented foods because I wanted to get my probiotics from a food source versus a supplement. I really enjoy making and drinking milk kefir, I also ferment a variety of vegetables. I gave up artificial sweeteners in February after the chiropractor told me they are neurotoxins and I was willing to do whatever to feel better.
I wish everyone the best in whichever way they choose to get through each day.
