Hi Joloveme,
Have you had your thyroid checked? Hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid) can cause weight loss and also nails and hair to grow faster than they should. The condition needs treatment, so if you haven't had levels checked for some years, it could be worth going for tests. In fact, if you haven't had a good checkup with a doctor in all of this time, then that's probably a really good place to start.
May people are co-diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and CFS, and the two conditions are very similar, with fibro featuring more pain than fatigue, and CFS more fatigue than pain - but definitely an overlap. A good doctor should be able to assess both, but I know finding the right medical professional can sometimes be a challenge!
Stress is a reliable culprit when it comes to triggering fibromyalgia. Learning how to better manage stress can make a big difference to the frequency and duration of pain flares, as well as the severity of other symptoms. It strikes me that if you haven't been aware of how important stress is to fibromyalgia up until now, then that means there is a whole lot of good stuff waiting for you to discover it - things that will aid you in better managing your condition! Don't forget to check out Sunkacola's pinned post about fibro management at the top of the general discussion section of this forum. Have a look online for relaxations techniques, try meditating, work on your sleep, and go all-in on self-care. Perhaps also read up on the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system if you never have before, to better understand the chemistry and triggers behind your stress and pain levels.
RE doctors, have you been to your family doctor recently? Getting a referral to a rheumatologist or pain clinic may give you free access to treatment and support. I remember that you mentioned frustration before at not being helped but just medicated - but, as difficult as it is, keeping pushing with your GP until you find yourself in front of the right person might be worth trying to do. In contrast, finding doctors independently will often mean stepping into the private clinic system.
