Is Fibromyalgia linked to mental illness? Can anxiety in fibromyalgia increase the severity of pain perception and the severity of the disease? Is it possible that the stress from fibromyalgia's pain and fatigue could cause anxiety and social isolation?

No, Although many people with FM also have anxiety or depression, often brought on by the pain and other difficulties, there's no direct link.

Yes. Any form of stress exacerbates the symptoms.

Yes. Some people who had not experienced anxiety or depression previously develop problems in that area as a result of the many difficulties in having FM.

Fibromyalgia is not a disease, actually. It's a syndrome, and there's a significant medical difference between the two.

psychological features like depression, sleep disturbances and mood changes as well arise with fibromyalgia syndrome.
