Hi my name is consuelo I’m also new to the forum. I have been dealing with fibro for 16 years plus I have autonomic brain dysfunction, Gerd and many other things related to the condition. I live in west palm beach Florida. My first problem is finding a doctor in my area for my fibro they only have pain management doctors, don’t want to go there, I work and will like to continue working until I retired in 2 1/2 years. Thank God I work for a Religiou place and been there for 21 years that they have the patients and kindness to be there for me. I already miss more than 12 days of work since January. My biggest problem is also my legs the pain never goes away and if I walk my dog or after work it gets worst. My thighs are the worst. There is nothing outhere to help me. I have try cymbalta, and many other. Know I just started neurontin but I don’t see anything different. My head is always foggy and I make lots of mistakes at work. I decided this is my life and have to live it my best. I have a 90 yrs old mom living with me and my husband plus work. All I want is for my legs to stop hurting and my head gets clear. This condition is very hard to have. No energy to do anything. My faith keeps me going. But no doctor have been able to find any combinations of medications to help me . I’m so sorry for all of us that has to carry this condition, only us understand what we go thru. Thank you

Welcome @Gianna 🌤, it’s pretty much the same in the uk, we don’t have any fibro drs just pain management (I take gabapentin. boy does it make to tired 💤) I saw a really interesting YouTube video a few days ago by a rheumatologist in california, Andrew Gross he spoke a lot about fibro and some things to get checked for also, he also spoke about diet, exercise, mindfullness and how a husband/wife/partner should be aware of the needs/debilitation and how not to treat someone with fibro, also how it’s a real condition and how drs in the past have put it down to a mental disorder (some of us on the forum have experienced that 🙄) it comes under if you type into the YouTube search engine

Fibromyalgia it’s real it’s manageable what you can do, the speaker comes up, he also speaks about infections, abuses, trauma and thyroid dysfunction, it’s really interesting, as I don’t live in Floria (I’d love to though) i dont know of specialists (maybe have a google see what comes up?) either way take lots of care 💜🤗💜

Sorry if you've tried all this 👐 , but these things (perhaps surprisingly) got rid of my severe thigh pain, making all lying, standing and walking very difficult:
A thin soft topper and lambskin under if the pain also comes at night;
a massage 'gun'=gadget (only minutes first!);
putting legs up very regularly, especially before, during (park bench) and after walks,
expert acupressure,
self-applied acupressure / exercises / stretches from youtube....

Hi everyone I am new to here and I'm trying to look for some answers. I have been dealing with fibromyalgia for about 20 years or more and also this pain in both legs for the last 7 or 8 years I have been getting these leg pains in both legs on my calves and the back of my knees, there also swelling and now has radiated to the back of my thighs. This pain is like a dull excruciating aching pain that can last from a couple of hours to 24 hours, it's everyday pain It's on both legs at the same time. even laying down elevating my legs the pain does not go away One doctor diagnosed me as restless leg syndrome and I know it's not that because I read on restless leg syndrome another doctor says it's neuropathy then another says it couldn't be neuropathy I cannot get any answers I am so tired of this pain having to deal with fibromyalgia and this chronic leg pain for so long it's getting to me. I know there's no cure for the fibromyalgia but I need to find answers to what's going on with my legs. A little bit about myself I am 61 years old and I took on taking care of my granddaughter since she was 9 months old she is now five years old and I have adopted her 2 years ago. She's a great little girl she actually bring me my ice packs and my little stimulator when she sees me in so much pain she grabs my gloves and my topical cream just a great girl and it saddens me because I wish I could do things with her like taking her to the park or to a movie, but I'm always in so much pain. I also suffer from cervical and Lumbar pain and I have osteoporosis as well. The only meds I take for my pain is the hydrocodone my doctor wanted me to start the medical marijuana to see how I would do on that because I've lost so much weight and I can't sleep so I finally decided to after him telling me about 2 years ago. I could not get it right of how to take this I've tried the brownies and the marijuana itself but I just could not do this right and having a child there was no way I could be high and sleepy and having to take care of her properly, so I told my doctor no more. There are days many days that might pain meds don't work for me I have tried different meds for the fibromyalgia but I always had some type of reaction or allergy and couldn't take them but my thing is that I don't want to mask this pain I want to know what it is that is causing this pain there has to be some answer, the only good news that I have is that my rheumatologist has stepped in and his ordered ultrasounds MRIs and x-rays and the nerve conduction I have not done any yet but I am so glad that she is going to try and help me . If there is anyone out there that may be going through the same and I am suffering please help me I would appreciate any info advice you may have. thank you.
I am so sorry you are having these issues with your legs. I had a total knee replacement and while the knee surgery went very well, I now have pain in my calf that is unrelenting. I don't know if it will help you, but I have tried some things that have helped. Massage, anti-inflammatory medication (such as advil), and exercise, particularly stretching. I wish you well and know how frustrating it can be to find some relief.

I kinda get what you mean @sunkacola about perspective, like serial killers really enjoy what they do and get kinda high fives from people who do the same or who idolise them and also racists and the nazis thought they were right to do what they did and on the other side of things other people think all these things were complete atrocities and devastation causing so like different perspectives is it? hope your ok today, hope all the forum is having an ok day too.

And I tend to think of this also in non-human terms, since we human beings are in a very tiny minority of the individuals on the planet. One of my examples is the "black plague" years in Europe, which all people hated of course, and probably many called the plague "evil". But it was a golden age for the rats, who thrived during those years as never before. :) All in perspective.

we human beings are in a very tiny minority
I'm just wondering whether "we" are also in a tiny minority in comparison to all our individual microbiomes, or we together with them are an enormous host of very many individuals, continually coming to life, changing, developing, adjusting and ending....
As a modern German philosopher titled "Who am I, and if so, how many?"

Truly what I have thought about, ever since I learned (to my delight) that there is such a thing as a microbiome, and every creature has one. It begs the question of who or what I am. (which is a very fun question to think about). And in my case has led me further into tending to see things in a larger picture, and feel connected to everything else.

I love these kinds of discussions I’d not long finished watching astrophysicists discussing more planets, strange stars, black holes and a stronger(Jupiter) telescope, some people in the comments were coming up with the idea that we’re living in gods mind, I love anything that makes me think, I can never get bored with cosmology, new thought and new finds, it thrills me, I think we’re all connected too and there’s more than just solid. I wish Jemima was here to join in this discussion 💗💗💗
