My pain is mad.my mum who we thought was just having a bad chest infection, which she did ,turns out she is in the first stage of heart failure,
Can't turn off,we have a week to a two week wait for the heart dr,and of course if she gets bad before we would send her in.here in the uk ,unless your rich you have to wait for appointments unless your nearly dead.
The only thing I will say is the dr who found this out has moved heaven and earth for her.
I can't sleep or relax,my legs are killing.sonis my back.
I'm hoping to get back in site soon,I feel sad that I've not been in here.most of you are my fibro family x

Forgetmenot,

I'm sorry your mom is so sick. I worry when anything happens to my mom. So I can understand your body responding to the stress. Try your hardest to keep positive and I'm sure your mothers doctor will give her good care.

Worrying too much isn't good for us fibros.Try to relax and write on here to keep your self busy.

Hope your mom feels better

I am sorry to hear about your bad news. Life with fibro on its own is tough enough, then you try to do the 'normal' life things, maintain a family, hobbies, daily chores, be there for the people we love ... and then something very stressful like this happens.

For the most part I think you have to try to put the trust in the hands of the doctors. The waiting must be hell, but this is also the time to make sure that your mom stays stress free and knows how much you love her and care for her. So just be there for her, and try not to focus on the bad, but on the good of every day (the beauty of spring, for example) and the funny side of things. My mom was sick last year, in and out of hospitals, doctors not knowing what was happening. It was very stressful, but laughing and talking about funny/happy memories helped us through it all. In every situation, I tried to make a joke or find things to smile about. In such stressful situations, we have to find a way to see the lighter side of things.

And don't forget to give yourself a good dose of R&R and take good care of yourself.

So sorry forgetmenot....my mum had cancer twice in last few years and was sooo stressful.....the docs in UK were fantastic but treatment long and gruelling...my dad has heart disease to and an anurysm.....they will do their best for your mum on the NHS despite the scare stories....i know the waiting is hard and will flare your fibro.

Vicky gives great advice for coping ......come here as and when you can to get support for yourself..and keep us posted as i for one follow not just our members fibro posts but also feel i know some of you more personally and often wait to hear how things are going..so keep us posted.

Thinking of you and your mum and family and wishing for positive news...there is so much that can be done with various medications and even surgery as daunting as that might be..my auntie had a stent and went on for years.... later a pacemaker and still went back to driving and getting around ok..so really the words heart failure are scary but doesnt mean there isnt lots of ways they can help her heart keep functioning.

Take Care

I'm sorry for you to hear about your Mom's Heart Failure diagnosis. On a positive side, your Mom is in stage one. There are four stages. Today's cardiac specialist's have an array of treatment and drug options to help patients live normal lives or close to normal. Like FM, this may entail finding a right combination of drugs and/or activity tolerance levels. Patients can live for many many years with this condition. For ex., my Mom had 2 heart attacks, the latter destroying her left ventricular (which pumps blood to the whole body, hence the work horse of the heart). She had a triple bypass in which two of the three vessels collapsed. She was in heart failure for over twenty years. It was cancer that greatly contributed to her death.

So, please try not to worry too excessively. I understand and sympathize with you. It's a scary diagnosis and as her daughter you worry about losing her. There is so much more that can be done to help patients long term survival and quality of life in today's medical community. Keep your chin up and tell your Momma everyday how much you love and need her. This will mean the world to her and brighten her out look on life. We Mom's always love hearing terms of endearment from our kiddies :)

So sorry to hear this! I think that vickythecat and medicmurphy both had really good advice for you and I can't really add anything to what they said except that I feel for you. Whatever you can possibly do to keep yourself as relaxed as possible will help you and your Mom as well, because you don't want her worrying about you on top of everything. When my Dad was in hospital, I did a whole lot of deep breathing and picturing a calm and peaceful place and putting myself there, in my imagination. It is sort of like self-hypnosis, but of course you are not completely under or anything. It just allowed me to sit very relaxed while I was in the hospital with him, instead of being tense and worried.
It did help. I hope that it goes well for your Mom and for you as well, as best that it can.

My heart goes out for you, and of course your mom. I know what you're going through . When my mom got the sudden bad news with stage 4 cancer pop out of no where no sign whatsoever , actually she was just went to get check up for heartburn problem at first , but came out with stage4 cancer diagnosed . it was a shocked to me greatly , and my body felt the pain like I never before. Also during her treatment I swear I even get the very similar pains at the same spot just by watching her going through it all. I don't know if that was the stress or was something like a sympathetic pains but it hurts so bad my mom actually felt sorry for me. Which to me that felt so wrong in many different ways cause I was suppose to comfort her not the other way around. But stay strong and be possitive. I can see that you are love here very much so stay strong and well, you can get through this! Possitive energy can be feeding off back and forward between you and her.
