Hey guys I’m just wondering. If anyone has had any hair loss and thinning there having fibro my hair used to be so thick and long and it’s falling out rapidly I’ve been taking iron for low iron but I’ve never ever suffered like this before I once heard it can be a side effect of Covid but wondered if anyone else had this or is it just me

Hi @Unicorn lisa . I notice no one has replied to you yet on this, so i decided to reply just so that you wouldn't feel ignored. I guess no one currently on the forum is experiencing hair loss. I know that most people experience at least a little bit of hair thinning as they get older, but I don't know how old you are. .... (sorry if you already said that in another thread).

One thing I can say is that we who have fibro often tend to attribute everything that goes on in our bodies to the fibro. This is understandable, because so many things are symptoms of fibromyalgia, and most of us have gone to the doc to ask about a new symptom and only been told, "that's just the fibromyalgia". Nevertheless, I always think it's best, if something is newly happening, to make a point of asking your doctor about it, in case it is actually a symptom of something else that can be treated or needs exploration.

Wishing you the best!

Hi Unicorn Lisa,
I have thinning hair in the front and mine is due to a battle with Vivid in September. My hairdresser advised me to use Castor Oil to massage into my scalp to help with regrowth. It works...

To: Unicorn Lisa, I’ve had Fibromyalgia/CFS, and other health issues for many years. Never, in 44+ years, did I lose my hair. However, four years ago for a length of time of two years, my hair fell out by the handfuls every single day. I normally have very thick hair, but my scalp became visible.

My hair loss was due to low thyroid, hypothyroidism. I kept telling my doctor that the medicine “Armour Thyroid” also called NP Thyroid, was not working. He would not listen. I changed doctors.

Now, I take Synthroid (brand name, which my doctor says is chemically different from Levothyroxine, the so-called generic form of Synthroid) and Liothyronine. I also take Iodine liquid and capsules as supplements. My hair has grown back. I feel better.

Best wishes, I hope you find answers. Keep on, keeping on. Believe in yourself; YOU KNOW YOUR BODY better than anyone else.
Also, write/ journal, keep written records. Your own notes will benefit you later. BHB

I had a similar issue and after trying vitamins and switching shampoos with no luck, I started looking into more permanent solutions. I came across this fue hair transplant clinic in miami and ended up booking a consult.

They were super patient with my questions, especially since fibromyalgia adds extra layers to everything. Still deciding, but it's been helpful having real answers instead of guessing all the time.
