Just curious since many of you have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, does it cause the hands to ache and throb like in the center of the palm by the ring and pinky finger? I have it on both hands in about the same area. I have the right hand having pain in the middle nuckle and close to the tip of the finger but none in the left hand. I also have no redness or swelling of my hands.....so just seeing if this might help prove its not RA. I know fibromyalgia is no picnic, but I rather have it than RA or MS

Hi there! Welcome to the forum! Well, I haven't heard of that symptom being common among people who suffer fibro, but it really sounds more like a neurological problem. Have you asked a neurologist about it? Has MS been ruled out? Have you had a MRI of your head? If I were you I'd go see a neurologist soon, I was having weird feeling in my hands some years ago, then half of my hand was numb for weeks..

What did yours turn out to be? I am so scared as I reallllllly don't want any of the progressing syndroms. I'd take fibromyalgia or CFS anyday. I know they can be bad, but at least you don't progress to uncertain future.

Mine was just carpal tunnel syndrome, that never explained the tremors and the tingling, so that's why I went to see a neurologist. I got a CT scan done, then a MRI to clarify some weird findings. Fortunately it was nothing. Thinking of getting an MRI again. You should do the same! Do you suffer from headaches often as well? I'm not saying I think you ave something wrong, but getting one's head checked is important if you start getting weird feelings in your hands or feet.

Btw, I know how you feel! I'm also scared of scary diseases... like cancer and MS! So I understand how you feel, but you really need to relax and start listing your symptoms before you see a doctor again.

Well I went to the dr today and he said I have Residual Carpel tunnel. He said I had carpel tunnel but by the time I took the EMG and nerve conduction test, the swelling had gone down and the healing began. He also said I have Fibromayglia LIKE symptoms. So I don't know if he's right or if I should be worried?

Don't be worried :) I think everything is fine, but if you are really worried about your dr's diagnosis, then you should really seek a second opinion. There are times I just get the feeling what the doctor told me wasn't entirely right, that's when I go get a second opinion, sometimes even a third one. Yes, nothing wrong with that!

Just make sure to find a good specialist, a good rheumatologist... a good GP can also try the trigger point test, if it's positive then odds are you have fibro. Getting a head MRI wouldn't be a bad idea at all either!

So Idk what to think. Like my wrists are feeling a lot better and little to no pain(every so often I feel some cramping in my hands and a shot of pain runs into my forearm or wrist) but now I am really worried as my pinky and ring finger on my left hand twitch left to right a little bit and I keep getting muscle twitches in my bicep area near where the elbow bends. I don't what to think and I am just so scared at this point = (

I understand your fears, but I insist that you should really see a neurologist! Once he rules out all the other diseases I told you about previously, you can start seeing a rheumatologist. I really recommend you to follow those steps, that way you will know for sure. If you do use your hands a lot when you work, then there is a big chance that's what is causing your pain.

Wow. I just typed a long response and it disappeared. Yes, I do have the hand pain you describe. I had the nerve conduction test too and don't have carpal tunnel.

Trellum, do you know if a person can just decide to see a neurologist without a doctor's referral? I ask because I've seen several doctors and have headaches and hand numbness and nobody has suggested that I see a neurologist. Just wondering...

Today I woke up with a weird aching feeling in the sole of my right foot and been getting muscle twitches(non painful) in my left bicep that disappears after a bit and then some in my right leg.

On top of that, I notice if I raise my right leg when laying down and bend/curl my toes forward my leg starts to shake. Is this a sign of ALS? I am so scared!

I just saw the neurologist who did my emg/nerve conduction test and said it was negative for carpel tunnel . He said he thinks its just anxiety causing carpel tunnel symptoms.....but now I have other symptoms like muscle twitches and afew fingers twitch.

OMG Athena! No offense, but your doctors seem to be completely clueless! If I was your doctor I'd have already given you a referral to a neurologist! Idiots! You need to really ask your GP to give you a referral to get a MRI done. For real, and no, don't accept a CT scan no matter what they tell you, CT scans use too much radiation and aren't as accurate as a MRI. Make sure the MRI is one with contrast... a MRI of the skull with no contrast is useless.

Are you taking any kind of medication? I ask because there are some meds that have really weird side effects. Some meds can even make your hands shake all of a sudden, I know because I was taking a medication that did that to me. Have you ever gotten a MRI of your brain? Have you asked the neurologist to rule out Lyme disease and MS? A spinal tap wouldn't be a good idea... Btw... did the neurologist run a neurological test?
