has anyone tried hypnosis for pain relief?

I received hypnosis to quit smoking. I'm smoke free 6 months now.
I feel and breath so much better.

I see they do have it for pain. Just want to see if it works as well.

Will to try anything for the pain.

Well I called my hypnotist. He told me that with the lupus it won't help with the pain. He doesn't want to take my money n it not work for me.at least he is honest.
I asked about self hypnosis. He said still won't stop my pain.
I'm not sure the name of it. My friend many years ago(30) told me how he can leave his body.
I'd like to try this. Has anyone done this type of thing. My friend has passed so I can't ask him.
