Hi all, I have not been diagnosed with fibromyalgia (yet) as my doctors think I'm a total hypochondriac by now. I would love to hear what you all with fibromyalgia think of my symptoms.. For the past few years I've been thinking there were several different things wrong with me but now I'm starting to believe it's all linked..it has to be!

Okay so a quick bio.. I'm almost 29, stay at home mom to a 5 yr old & 2 yr old. Used to be fairly athletic but no energy for regular exercise in the past year. Stats: 5'3, 122 lbs.
All my blood tests have come back within normal ranges except for slightly higher testosterone.

The majority of my symptoms worsened and flared in both frequency and intensity since we moved and had our 2nd child (over past 2 years)

--Chronic Fatigue..despite Adderall script for ADD (without it I can't stay awake)
-- frequent headaches/migraines
--inability to stay asleep longer then 2 hrs at a time
-- daily muscle pains ranging from my lower back, thighs, neck and chest (feels like heart pain)
-- foggy thinking (this is a new and scary thing)
-- highly sensitive to cold
-- frequently dizzy, especially upon standing up
-- sensitive stomach, easily upset
-- major hair loss over past year
-- low blood pressure and poor circulation..cold and numb extremities
-- major anxiety
(I'm sure there is more but can't think of it right now)

thoughts? insights? similar stories?

I prefer herbal/natural treatments but I'm willing to try anything to help at this point.

Would Lyrica help or something else?

Side note..The chest pain thing freaks me out the most. It has been ongoing for several years..diagnosed with costrochonditis. Always flares up during the cold winter months and don't even notice it during the summer. Had an echo 5 years ago, 2 ER visits last year, basic appt with Cardio and they said all was fine.

I just want to feel normal, play with my girls and not feel like I'm 90 years old!

I look healthy on the outside to everyone but it feels like my body is at war on the inside :(

Thanks for reading this!

It's really hard to say.

Some of the things you mentioned are explained by others. For example, you'll get dizzy upon standing up when you have low blood pressure. Do your extremities turn white or purple when they're cold? Anxiety can be caused by worrying too much about your symptoms and what they mean.

Also, a lot of your symptoms are listed as side effects for Adderalll; have you discussed that with your doctor?

I wish I could be more help but it's so hard to say. Has your doctor tested the trigger points for Fibromyalgia? I experience some of those things but I can explain them by other diseases and what not; I wouldn't be able to say for sure it's from the Fibro.

I assume that they checked for low thyroid? A lot of those symptoms can be caused by hypothyroidism.

They turn white when cold.

Yes.. a thyroid problem was one of the first things I had my Dr. check and recheck for. I was told each tie all my blood work looks normal and healthy.

I've taken Adderall for ADD since high school, only off during pregnancy and breast feeding. I still had most of these symptoms off of it including the chest and muscle pains.

The sore trigger points caught my attention since my husband will often try to rub/massage areas that I'm complaining about and he'll hit spots that make me literally jump from the pain. He always says.."that hurts? I'm barely touching you"... I was thinking I may have him mark all my sore spots with a marker for Dr. to see.

Do I ask my regular Dr. to test for the trigger points or do I ask for a referral to a specialist?

Look up the term Raynands Syndrome. It causes your hands and feet to turn different colors like white and blue, and then hurt like the devil when the blood flow rushes back into them. Do a web search on this for more info. The best course of action is to wear gloves or warm socks, and try to avoid exposing your feet or hands to cold temp's without some form of warm protection. Like don't remove things from the freezer with your bare hands or walk around in your bare feet.

I hope this helps. :)

Reynaud's is the reason I was asking if they turn white or blue when they are cold. Like 1sweed says, it hurts like a bugger when the warmth begins to return. It feels like your hands got frost bitten, only it took mere seconds. Part of the reason I got awarded a handicapped placard was because, I got that cold from simply walking to my car. Warming up would bring tears to my eyes. The only thing that worked for me was blood pressure medicine. I don't know if it's related but I over heat just as easily. Wearing gloves caused my hands to sweat; that made them cold and caused the Reynauds to act up. The blood pressure medicine increased blood flow enough for me to be able to get something from the freezer. The only reason why I'm speaking in past tense is because I have no trouble with Reynauds here in Mexico.

You can Google "Fibromyalgia Trigger Points" and find diagrams showing their locations. It's not a diagnosis but you can check them yourself. I can't say who would diagnose you. My primary care doctor refuses to treat me and sends those issues to my Rheumatologist. However, another doctor might be ok with it.
