Hi y'all my name is Amy Hagood & I'm from Texas, U.S.. I am a very proud Mommy of 6. I only gave birth to 3 though. A daughter (8yrs) & a son (6yrs) from my 1st marriage & my husband Chris & I share a daughter (2yrs) together. God notnonly blessed me with Chris but also with 3 new daughters, their ages now are 16, 14 & 11, they are also from his 1st marriage. God blessed the broken roads that led us straight to each other! We've almost been married 4 yrs now. We're like the Brady Bunch except with 5 girls & 1 boy, bless my son's heart. LOL Thankfully I do not have to work. So I used to enjoy cooking 7 days a week/3 homemade meals a day, cleaning, I was a super spastic clean freak & the organization queen. I enjoyed going places, being room Mom at school, was a member of the PTO, you name it I was involved.

Although my knees slowed me down 2 yrs ago it was nothing for what was to come with such a joy as being pregnant with your husband's child that him & I wanted so badly to have together.I was on bed rest at 16 wks of the pregnancy on up until 35 wks when I gave birth to our now 2 yr old daughter. When I had her doctors & specialist all say it was as if having her set off an atomic bomb in my body aka the possible ptsd that awoke at least 1 of the beast inside of me called Fibromyalgia.

After about the first 2 months I began having terrible migraines, which I'd never had 1 in my life. I was having 3 at minimum a week & in the hospital for a rescue cocktail. After a few months I was able with doctors help to find the perfect combo of a daily migraine preventative, an as needed narcotic rescue med & another daily medication. Another symptom was now able to be addressed, my painful sexual intercourse & my asexual tendencies which were not always that way & were affecting my marriage. I married 14 yrs my elder but it hasn't slowed him a bit. LOL So I was reffered to a gynecologist by my PCP. I also was having facial hair or rather blonde peach fuzz, hair in all sorts of places I hadn't before, plus terrible facial acne & chest & back acne none of which I'd even had while in puberty or during my time off the month. The gyno did every test possible & my estrogen was low and testosterone was high so the gyno started me on vaginal estrogen, removed my lovely IUD, ya know the 1 time insert for 5+ yrs fix it n forget it birth control. Whelp none of the gyno's suggestions helped except I can say I have overdosed on estrogen by following dosage instructions given by doc. Needless to say I took a full months supply due to his screw up in 3 days, WOAH.. I WAS LOONEY! TE HE HE

Then I went to a gastrointestinal doc because I had been having diarrhea for over 6 months. The specialist suggested multiple blood work samples & an upper GI & a colonoscopy. Pretty much everything came back normal other than I'm on the verge of a damn ulcer.... Hhhmmmm perhaps stress?

Then onto the Rheumatologist, due to my PCP doing blood work & my ANA coming back positive. He repeated the blood work to make sure it wasn't a false positive but once again it was positive with very high titers & speckled pattern. My RA specialist bilateral MRI'S on my wrist and bilateral MRI'S on my knees. After the physical examinations, many many appts to rule out this and that I RELIEVED A DIAGNOSIS! So I wasn't crazy after all or a hypochondriac! !

I after 2 very frustrating years was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia & Rheumatoid Arthritis at the ripe age of 28. I can't say that after being properly diagnosed it's been peaches & cream because to put it simply, it's been a friggin nightmare trying to find a proper pain management specialist here in Texas who trust that a person of my age and fully tattooed (prior to Fibromyalgia) to give the time a day...then to top it.. we're talking about Fibromyalgia a syndrome or disease depending on what you're reading or who you're talking with, that is so very uncharted and widespread. I am currently taking these Fibromyalgia meds : 3 1/2 months on Lyrica & am now on 450mg a day. 3 months Cymbalta 60mg. 1 month Elavil 50mg. 2 days Metaxalone 800mg ×3. Actemtra is what I take for my RA.
On a scale of 1 to 10 for relief with these meds I'd give it a ZERO. Lyrica made me go from being 120 to being 150 in weight, that's a side effect but I wouldn't care if I were huge and had some relief.

Then I have Rheumatoid Arthritis which is an autoimmune disease. I also have Osteochondritis Dissecans stage 3 almost 4. in my knees which I've had since I was 10. I'm currently awaiting another painful knee procedure. Because of my age the specialist do not want to do knee replacement although they feel they'll soon have no other choose.

I just want to lead a normal life. Not to be in bed in pain under a heating blanket all day. My husband works, cooks, shops, does laundry and the kids help. I feel useless & every time I see a glimmer of hope for relief a door slams in my face. Just venting & sharing. Obviously an insomnia night & in so much pain I can't rest. I'm glad I found y'all!

Thanks for reading,
Amy Hagood

Amy,
Welcome to the forum. From the sounds of things you have been put through the wringer, as my grandma would say. It takes a lot of courage to face all those health problems but keep on fighting. I have heard a lot of people on the forum talking about how hard it is of late to get good pain medication with out the doctor thinking your just there for the drugs. But I do understand your concerns on dealing with constant pain and getting no relief.

If you read around the forum you might find some things you can buy for home use that will help make sleeping easier and might help during the day as well. You sound like me in respect to once being someone who got things done and had a sparkling house to boot. I used to be fast and kept my house super clean and managed all chores with speed and grace. But no more, now I have to pace myself and plan ahead, make lists and not do it all in one day.

Be sure to read the back posts in the pain and fatigue, section, as well as, alternative methods and in the general questions as well, as there are lots of really good coping skills listed there.
Join in and post around the forum and ask questions if you need to. And vent in the moan and groan section on those really bad days. Glad you found us. :)
