So today I have started having hip pain. It almost feels like my hip is going to pop out or that there is junk in there. When my hip hurts it also hurts all the way across my pelvic bone. Does anyone else experience this?

Hello,
No i haven't experience that...

I was having the same problems you describe. I went to the Dr because it was getting worse and going up stairs was almost impossible. My Dr sent me for xrays and discovered I also have osteoarthritis. Mine is at the point where I have an appointment with a specialist to discuss hip replacement. Please see your Dr if this does not feel like regular Fibro pain or if it does not settle in a day or two.

I do have hip pain, but it's no so much like what you're talking about. When I say hip, I mean the joint where my leg connects to my hip. I seem to have more of a problem with it hurting when I lay up against something. Like when I lay in bed? That is painful, and it's an irritant. The pressure seems to be more of an issue.

Sometimes I get a searing pain in the hips, but I attribute that more to my back issues.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your hip pain. Actually, pain in my hips was the first bad, chronic condition that I complained to my doctor about. After I had my son in 2009, I told my doctor that my hips and back were so painful, but she just brushed it off as "new mother syndrome." Basically saying, "of course you feel like crap, you are losing sleep and spending so much energy caring for an infant." She sent me for PT (which didn't help) and told me that I'd feel better if I lost the extra weight I'd gained during pregnancy. Once I lost all the weight, I felt worse than ever, and at the same time, I befriended a girl with severe fibromyalgia. We became best friends, and last winter, she was diagnosed with a rare disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. She insisted that I go and get examined for this, because I had many of the symptoms. It turns out that I have EDS too. EDS causes instability in the joints, which often leads to dislocations. In my case, my joints slip in and out quickly but never stay dislocated. I have been referred to a specialist and a new physical therapist.

It could also be your S.I. Joint. I have had many xray and MRIs and the only thing they found was arthritis on my SI Joint. It causes pain across my left hip and down my left left into my foot. Of course with fibro this is just one of my Many problems.

Yes, and I've found going to a chiropractor regularly (as in, 3x per week for a month, then go at least once a month after that for a while) was very helpful and totally solved my hip problems. One or two adjustments don't do enough, because the body fights back and doesn't want to be adjusted at first. I'm walking straight again, one leg is not longer than the other anymore, my hips are relaxed and move much more freely, and I just feel good. The chiropractor has also helped immensely with acid reflux, back pain, menstrual pain, hearing and vision issues, and so much more. I very rarely get sick anymore. Also, chiropractic care is SO MUCH cheaper than a PT or medical doctor. You'll get relief way faster too! (I know having someone put their hands on your body is really scary when you have fibro, but just communicate with the chiropractor and tell him/her if you can't be touched in a certain area that day. All 3 chiropractors I've ever seen have been super caring and respectful of this with me.)

In the mean time, try heating the area and stretching it as best you can. Hot baths, saunas, and heating pads are all great options. Watch your posture. When you lay on your back at night, make sure your knees are bent. I put two pillows in one pillow case and put that below my knees. When I sleep on my side, I put it between my knees. Make sure you have good lumbar support when you're sitting - poor sitting posture hurts my hips way more than my upper back.

My hips use to hurt the same way you are describing; however these days, I don't have hip pain that often due to the fact I use Tommie Copper shorts that help hip pain. Go online and look up Tommie Copper products, and you will see the shorts, that help for hip pain. These products can be slept in. These products are great!

Interesting, I see the Tommy Copper advertisement on the TV daily and wondered if they worked..

I have had hip pain for the last 12 or so years. About 10 years ago the doctors discovered I had osteophytes on my femoral head. They had planned on removing my femur, shaving the bumps off and putting me back together. Then they decided it was too much of an operation for me and decided I needed a full on replacement. Except, being in my early 20s, they didn't want me having an operation every 5 years (as that's how long hips lasted back then). Now, I'm still not old enough for a replacement because my femoral head had died (necrosis) and hip replacements are still only good for five years.

This pain (from the osteophytes) is in the groin. Sometimes, they catch and I have to literally manipulate my leg into the position I want it to be in. This is extremely painful. If I sit on the couch with my knees bent and legs off to the side I'm guaranteed to make my left leg catch. I can't sleep on my left side as it produces an ache that's unbearable.

When Aunt Flo visits (sorry) I get extreme pain across my tailbone and pelvic region.
