I am a 55 year old female who had a hysterectomy 3 years ago (I still have one ovary). Since September 2015:
* 3 level acdf Sept. 2015 with routine recovery
* Soon after acdf, started having non-specific but severe tooth pain in my upper left molars. Dental xrays were normal. Tap test was not painful. Seemed to flare when barometric pressure soared upwards quickly.
* Went to family doc to see what could be causing it and he gave me Imitrex, thinking it could be some form of migraine.
* Two weeks after this, I did get an abscessed tooth on the lower left molar. Started Keflex (I am allergic to nearly all other antibiotics) and Tylenol 3. Took two visits totalling over 4 1/2 hours to perform root canal. After second visit, I experienced terrible jaw pain and was told it was trismus and would go away. Jaw would not open very far. One month later, my jaw is still stiff and limited but no pain. However, my upper and lower molars are killing me again.
* Also since the root canal I have had several intermittent days where my whole body was in pain, even to touch. I could not do anything but lie on the couch all day. I have trouble staying warm and shiver a lot. I get up 3 to 4 times a night to urinate. It feels like my IBS is coming back after years of no symptoms.
Generally, I feel horrible all over. My teeth Xrays are fine. The Imitrex has stopped working for the "migraine" in my upper molars. Some days I feel great, others I feel like I can't move and can't stay warm. I am depressed for no reason. I have nothing particularly stressful in my life right now...other than the pain affecting my life and activities. All of this began after my acdf. Ironically, I have no pain in my neck where the surgery was done.
I cannot go back to the dentist yet again. I think they thought the root canal would take care of everything.
Is it possible this is FM?? If it is possible, where do I go from here? Back to my family doctor? I do not need referrals to see specialists. I just want to know what is causing all this pain and toothaches and depression and chills and not sleeping due to getting up to urinate so often. I just retired and want to enjoy life with my husband, not be in pain all the time. Thanks for listening. I have no one else to ask about this.
