Hello everyone! First I should introduce myself, I'm Laura, I don't myself have fibromyalgia, but I have friends that do. I have MS, diagnosed for around 5 years, have had symptoms for 15. I was an actor for 20 years, but have recently reframed my work to focus on applied theatre - which is where theatre practice is used in the community for education and social change.
I've created a project called The How Are You Project - which is currently in development. The project interrogates the everyday narrations of health specifically for people with non-visible disabilities. Looking at the many 'versions' we tell as a response to the question "How are you?", constantly navigating which version you want to give, or people want to hear – exploring the experience of 'explaining' health or even avoiding explaining!
I use theatre games and exercises to discover the 'testimonies' of the project's participants. I work online (on zoom) in short group workshops, as well as one-to-one. The aim is to create a piece of theatre using the testimonies from these sessions. It is simultaneously aimed at providing a supportive space and experience for all participants.
I am currently looking to expand the project's community. Crucially I want to work with people from all backgrounds and ages, to achieve the biggest range of 'voices' for the testimonies. Any use of testimonies will be after full consent from the participants – and actors will be used in the performance, so anonymity is assured.
I would love to hear from anyone on this forum that might be interested in participating in the workshops or one to one sessions! I sincerely hope that I am posting in the right area of this forum so as not to cause offence. I can of course provide more information following any interest. Please get in contact with me and I would love to tell you more.
Thanks so much for reading! Laura

Hi Laura, sounds fun, I'm in!
Newbies here can't be private messaged, so like in the case of @Oberon's thesis the moderators (@sunkacola) would need to undelete your @dress which you probably had provided, that'd be easiest.
A workaround might be to write your @dress with 1-2 spaces in between, not sure if that'll be OK.
Another if you could name a webpage with your @ddress on it which we can search for (not a link).
If that doesn't work either I could put up a throwaway @ddress here you could use to contact me...

hello Laura,

Your post was edited to remove the outside link you provided, as those are not permitted on this forum. Please note that if you are charging people money for participation in the workshops or sessions, it is also against the forum rules to advertise here.
There may be people here interested in your project, and I wish you good luck with it. :)

If you wish to give others your email address, it is safer to do so in private messages with them.

Thanks so much for your response – and I completely understand for the edit. Please note that there is no cost involved for participants and any involvement is remote. It is a supportive community for the participants - that ultimately aims to bring more awareness to the experience of constantly having to narrate our health. May I check – am I able to message people privately? I cannot quite see how I do that currently. Sincere thanks, Laura

Hi Jay, thanks so much for all of this! I'm just currently working out the best way to be in touch with people directly on here. I can go ahead and put my email address with some spaces – but I want to be sure not to be breaking any rules as I'm new to this forum, so I'll just wait to hear back from @sunkacola on that. Really glad to hear you are on board! Thank you again.

I still can't message you as yet (see attachment), so even less likely that you can message me.
I just tested: I can now message Oberon - I guess it's cos now they have written 20 messages.
So that'd be another alternative, posting more. Maybe 10 messages is the "ticket".
But as sunkacola has said that it's only about advertising for a product and the external link,
I'd suggest doing what we usually do: Sharing how we can search for your website.
Or as I've recently been doing: using the direct link, but putting spaces between the parts.

When you first join it takes a while before you will be able to message people privately. This is a safeguard to protect members from being directly scammed or bothered with advertising. Once you have posted enough times successfully then you will be able to do private messages. In the meantime, why don't you post any questions you may have for people and let them answer you in the thread and before you know it you will have messaging capability. :)

To do so just hover your cursor over the person's handle to the left of a post they made and a window will appear in which you can click on "start a conversation".

What a great way to help everyone!

Such a difficult thing to navigate - when do we cross over the boundary of what people want to hear and what we want to say?

It's interesting that @JayCS and I were just talking about this. It seems to us that there might be different "tolerances" for personal information among different cultures in addition from person to person...
I am currently looking to expand the project's community. Crucially I want to work with people from all backgrounds and ages, to achieve the biggest range of 'voices' for the testimonies. If I can add something to your project, I would be happy to help.

Best wishes with it!
