Hi everyone I am newbie,I did post before but I have not for a while so still do not know if I am correct in posting here please tell me if I am wrong and if I am sorry. I just do not know what is wrong with me I am in so much pain all over my body it never gets any better, it has been worse since I fell after slipping on icy ground, I cracked a bone in my pelvis although it was never x rayed the doctor said it was but I have got a lot worse since that. I have very weak legs in the morning my balance is not good now especially if I have been standing in one position for a while or if I have been sitting also after being in bed or sitting I am very stiff . Nothing makes the pain any better,do not sleep well keep waking up,I am now going out again trying to get my muscles tighter again by walking my dogs I used to walk 3 miles a day with them, not now. The doctor is making an appointment with neuorologist to see if he can pinpoint what is wrong it can take a long time to get an appointment here in Scotland. Do these symptoms compare with fibromyalgia at all. Would love to wake up in the morning and have no pain it would be the best thing ever. Sorry to go on a bit.

Welcome.well short answer yes it does sound like Fibro.i am stiff every morning and every night.it could be where u cracked the bone .i mean I don't no how old u are, but u no the older u get the longer it takes.
I have got way worse since I got passed 40.do u get pain in your upper body at all.does your skin ever feel sore to touch.or you have tender points?.
Do u wake up more tired then u went to bed ..btw u don't need all of these.
Took me months to see a Nero.

Hi Amberlee, welcome!

The symptoms you are describing sound familiar; I have had the same wish to wake up one day without pain.

There are quite a few conditions that have symptoms similar to fibromyalgia. It's a good idea to go to a specialist who can rule out the other candidates. You might ask your doctor if you also need a referral to a rheumatologist.

Getting better sleep will decrease the pain, especially if you have fibromyalgia. If your doctor can help you with that right now it might give you some relief.

It's a good idea to keep a written log of your symptoms so you can see what helps and what doesn't.

I find that swimming in a heated indoor pool really helps me control my symptoms. I you have access to a pool you might give it a try.

Permanent pain is not something normal, so you should get checked by a doctor. It might be something a supplement solve or it might be something more serious...

Hi everyone for your replies they are very helpful, I have been seeing doctor he just says lot of people live with pain and gives me dehydrocodeine/paracetamol. I have been on these for years they do not help the pain. I do wake up just as tired as I was when I went to bed, I do wake up a lot through the night soaking in sweat and my feet and legs to the knees are bright red, like a really bad sunburn, feet and knees turn purple in shower. Doctor seen knees purple and said oh thats nothing to worry about but I do. I do have upper body pain as well I should say that I have osteoporosis have old fractures in my back these hurt at the time but I am told don't after they heal. I am older I am 69 but before the fall was very active and I am trying very hard to be again I do not give in,down but not yet beaten. I am having trouble in answering the posts as I do not understand how to do it hope I have done it correctly this time thank you

Well mate, welcome back and let me tell you that it deffinitely sounds like yes, it is fibromyalgia, you should visit your medic and get some more information about your condition, get mentally ready and hopefully it does not go way too far in your case.

I totally agree with you. Permanent extreme pain all over not the norm.

I wouldn't rush to conclude that it is fibromyalgia. Not every pain is fibro, even chronic pain. Fibromyalgia is a syndromme and it takes time for one to zero down on it as the cause of your pain. I assume that pain is a normal process including discomfort as long as we are in this mortal body. Your problem is related to the pelvic fracture and there is a possibility that it did not heal completely meaning that there could be exposed nerves. I would recommend that you request your physician for more tests. How long have you been suffering? Fibromyalgia can take as long as 2 years to detect.

Hi again thank you for your quick response once again. The pain I have is not new I have had the strong pain for about 5 years that's why the strong painkillers which do not work but don't stop them as might be even worse without them. People tell me I have lost weight but I still weigh the same but I think my muscles have gone soft that's why I am walking again not up to standard I was before but I am determined to get there, also doing exercises to build them up.The doctor the last time thought it was nerve pain so I willnsee what neurologist has to say, will mention fibro to him, it will likely take a while as in Scotland it does take a long time to see anyone. Thanks again for your help.

Welcome. It may be the you have underlying fibro and that your injury has created a source of pain for the fibro to amplify. The weak legs also suggest to me that you could have a compressed nerve. If it is fibro, over-exercising can cause severe symptoms for a few days after the exercise. People with fibro have to be very careful how they exercise to avoid causing a flare.

Hi gryfalcon Thank you for your reply I am so thankful for all of the replies it is all starting to make sence and I wll mention it all to neurologist when I see him. I do the exercises and I am in pain after just thought it was muscles working. I do the exercises to help my bones it seems I cannot win. I learn a lot from your replies thanks everyone.☺

Change dr. Really get another dr. This one sounds like his just getting through the day as painlessly as he can.you need to be referred to a nero I'd u haven't already. Not saying there great but they would no what's wrong xx

Hi forgetmenot,I am at the moment waiting on an appointment with neuologist but as I have said this can take a while here in Scotland and I will write down all symptoms because whenever I see a medic everything goes out of my head . I will ask him about fibro, do doctors recognise fibro do you think? Or do they just dismiss it. I will post here the results of that when it happens if that is okay. I enjoy talking to all of you thank you all

I do not have a day without pain, it just varies in intensities. I hope you find what will help.

It's really sad that this happens, so it ends up being an art being positive and trying to live through the pain.
