I was just diagnosed this week after 2 years of issues. I have been to doctor and ER several times over last few years. It started With ear and neck pain and now get tingling in my feet and arms. I get “strange” feelings all over. Pain in my arms and funny feeling in my chest/ribs has had me thinking I had heard issues. doctor suggest cymbalta. Has any tried that?

Hi rhoda, I tried that and it didn't help me at all but everyone is different, and it helps some, I think.

The really important thing, though, is not to depend on medication to help you, or expect that the medication alone is all you need to do to manage this effectively.
Since this is a systemic syndrome you have to treat the whole body. I have detailed a lot of things that will help in this post:

Please read it, and start implementing some of those things into your life, as they may help, maybe even a lot. I think the most important thing is to eat well, and to move your body some every single day, even if it is only a little.

I used to depend on medications to manage my chronic pain and fibro, but now that I am working with my body in new ways I don't even need to take medication daily, and none of what I do take when needed is the heavy duty stuff doctors prescribe. My suggestion to you is that you try these other things first, and see how much they help you, before starting pain medication.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Thank you so much! 😊 I got the prescription but haven’t filled it yet. I have appointment for Physio and going to try acupuncture as well. I already do eat pretty well and try to exercise. That being said - I find that really hard some days! 🙁 Does anyone else also have numbness or tingling feeling in their face? I find sometimes I feel kinda fuzzy if that makes sense.

Exercising IS very hard some days. Those are the days you just do a little less, and then give yourself credit for it in a big way. And if it is a really bad day and you can't do any, give yourself a day off. But don't let it discourage you into not going back to it the next day.

I'd prefer trying pt and good acupuncture too, altho both hurt me when done too much or the wrong type. But meds did too.
Numbness or tingling reminds me of trigeminus nerve inflammation, not sure tho, because my symptoms of severe pain in my left face years ago, for months (and after and sometimes still an itchy eyebrow there) has been thought to be caused more by a cluster headache by a neurologist.

I agree! Will try everything else before medication. I haven’t had headaches yet but the numbness and tingly and just a weird feeling in my head. Weird feeling on both sides of my jaw too. It’s an awful feeling. Ahah anyone had same? feel better after having had an MRI and knowing it’s not a brain tumour or anything.

Jaw? = Teeth? Pain there was root inflammation in my case and not the trigeminus I'd thought....

It isn’t so much pain as twinges in my jaw. I have so many random weird things going on. Anyone else get itchy? I hon thought I was going crazy with all the weird stuff going on. It is nice to finally get diagnosis!

OK, twinges and itch sounds more like nerves. Still wouldn't rule teeth out completely tho.

Doctor also said I have TMJ which I read some people with fibromyalgia get?

Ah yes, I also had some occasional strange pain under the jaw hinges and was thinking of that, i.e. TM(J)D too. I think my osteopath got rid of that, he tried at least, and it seemed very fitting. - Or it just left cos the other rats were leaving the sinking ship too. o_O

Yes I have TMJ disorder and it's my understanding the two are related. I am trying to get the TMJ disorder under control right now it has been flaring up for me since March and I finally got an appointment for a bite guard to be made next month. My dentist referred me to a specialist clinic and it's been a slow process but hopefully I can get this under control soon.

Hi there! I was recently DX after a year of pain. I'm reading all your comments and can't believe some of the similar things I've also experienced! I've had tingling in the side of my face...almost like electric shocks. I will say, dont be afraid to try medication to help. If your pain is preventing you from living a quality of life, try whatever your doctor suggests may be worth trying plus some of the great suggestions others have made (exercise, etc.). I'm sorry to hear of your pain, but take comfort that there are others who can relate. I hope you feel some improvement soon!

I agree - it is somewhat comforting reading posts and seeing that others are experiencing the same. I was starting To think I was losing my mind after a few years of so many random symptoms. What kind of symptoms do you have? Last few days have been ok for me but this morning I woke up with a sore neck and it’s mostly in the front. 🙁

I really appreciate having this forum. I was just diagnosed last week after 7+ months of random symptoms. It's nice knowing I'm not alone.
