Hi,

I was diagnosed with Fibro from a Rheumatologist about 20 years ago. I was so bad at the time that every morning I woke up I felt like a truck had run over me. My Medical doctor was very understanding and did many tests to rule things out like Lupus, MS ect. They all came back clean so he said I think it is Fibro but I will send you to a specialist. It didn't take him long to say you have Fibro. I just about went through the roof when he touched the tender spots.

It ended my first marriage as I didn't know what was wrong with me which made it that much worse. I was left with two small children to raise. It was after that they finally said I had fibro. I was put on medication to help me sleep and that helped a lot. With learning that I had to listen to what my body was telling me I eventually got better so I could continue work and raise my two children. I got along over the years by listening to my body and trying to eat right and get enough sleep.

I married again 17 years ago and my husband is very supportive, bless his heart. I have done not to bad except for some spells that left me lifeless and barely able to get out of bed. With help from my doctor and time off work I was able to pull myself back again until last April when I got shingles. I had been really stressed at work and have an aging Mother who needed help and could feel myself getting bad and before I knew it I came down with shingles. I was off work for almost three months as I had a really bad case and then my Fibro went really out of control. My doctor gave a new med to help with the pain which has helped over time. About the 2nd week into that I woke up and my ears were ringing and I couldn't hear good. When I was at my ENT doctor I asked him to check my ears and they had water in the inner ear. I then had to go to an audiologist so they could find out how much water. They were full so he had to put tubes in my ears but they either fell out way to soon or the eardrum grew over. I had four sets of those tubes until he said he would have to put permanent tubes in which was done last week. It has taken the water away but my ears still ring and I can't hear. He is now sending me to a specialist for just hearing and ears. Lately I feel like everything is just falling apart. I am so stressed when I get home at night from trying to hear people and get what they are saying so I can do the work. I am beginning to wonder if the time is coming soon where I will not be able to work. If they can find out what is wrong and I can get hearing aides that might help, but I am even afraid of adjusting to that.

I didn't mean to ramble on where I am just supposed to say hello, I am new. It just sort of all poured out.

I am hoping being part of the forum will help me by just reading about other peoples troubles and maybe I can even help some of them.

Back when I was diagnosed Fibro was something that everyone thought was in your head. It has been a long road to here where it is at least now acknowledged.

Thanks for Listening.

Dear Bedbug, I am new here this morning, but I wanted to offer you some hope that there really are lots of us that understand what you are going through. I am glad you have a supportive partner, I am lucky that way too. But remember, they are not mind readers, so try as much as you can to tell your family and partner before you reach your limit that you need some extra help. And then when your limit is there, remind them. Remember they love you, and they are probably just as confused as you are. But they want to help, just try and find the words to help them, help you! Blessings, Freddy
