Hi , I'm just wondering if anyone can help. I've been having problems
For at least three years now and finally I was recently sent to go see a rhumotologist, which led to my diagnosis of fibromyalgia.to doctor there disccused what fibromyalgia is and then said he would refer' me back to my doctor. Now I'm wondering do I have to tell my doctor what I have or wait for him to contact me ? I have no idea if I just live like this with the diagnosis or if I have to contact someone for help. The specialist did mention something about occupational health but no meidcation was prescribed to me or even mentioned to me ... Thanks in advance. Peej.

PEEJ,
i can understand your confusion. Usually when a doctor says they are referring you back to your doctor, it means they will write up a report on your condition and send this to your regular doctor so that he or she can manage your condition. This keeps your team of doctors in the loop and knowing what medications they recommanded and your diagnosis.

So yes, you should tell your regular doctor what symptoms your having and let this doctor help you figure out the best way to control them. If it seems you need another doctor, let your regular doc refer you, that way you build a team of doctors to help manage fibro.

Hope this helps you. :)
