Does anyone get migraines with their fibro flare ups?
My fibro is flaring up today, and my head is also killing me!
I am sensitive to migraines, and stress often triggers them.
But I guess stress also triggers my fibro to some extent.

If you're already sensitive to them, then it stands to reason that they could well be a part of your condition. There is medication that you can take to make it less likely that you would suffer from them in the future, and this is something that you should see your doctor about - particularly if you feel as though stress is one of your main triggers, which I would believe is the case for a lot of people. It's important to remember that not every pain you feel is due to fibromyalgia. You could have that and persistent migraine as well which occur together, but one may not cause the other. One mistake that a lot of people make is group everything together and they then miss out on key treatment choices that they could have had if they'd thought about each illness on its own.

Hi there! I used to get migraines quite often, until I started to take a medication that helped to control my blood pressure, that improved my odds of not getting a migraine. It helped quite a lot to be honest, now if i ever get a migraine isn't as bad a before! It doesn't happen often either.

Perhaps your migraines are a symptom of your fribo , as everyone does suffer different differently. Also stress can definitely aggravate any ailment. Have you considered taking medication for your migraines?.

I have chronic migraines and had them for a long time before my fibro diagnosis. But I have had many fibro symptoms for a VERY long time. My migraines are triggered by the same things as my fibro symptoms. Now, I am no doctor, but I DO know how to add 2 and 2. I take preventative migraine medication, which is also on the list of fibro treatment drugs. I also have Maxalt, which is migraine medicine that helps to alleviate the migraine when the migraine occurs despite the preventative. You and your doctor should look into this. If you have migraines for more than 8 days a month, then you should be taking a preventative. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Migraines can be related to the fibro or to something we ate, I've heard that both milk and eggs can make migraines worse.

I used to get chronic severe migraines and found that they were triggered by sulfites. Sulfites can be somewhat difficult to avoid because they are in most dried fruit, including raisins, in wine, and some fruit juices. It is commonly added to keep fruit and juices from turning brown.

I get migraines with auras (classic migraines) but most of my headaches are tension/muscular headaches.

I get headache/migraines everyday that range from mild to severe. It was getting to the point it was so bad often enough that I would end up in the ER for an iv treatment. I have tried a wide assortment of preventative meds, and nothing helped that the neurologist or rheumatologist put me on. Now I am on an opiate pain killer for when it is really bad and am waiting to see a pain specialist. So we will see what happens. I have had this for many years, and is gradually getting worse. It feels muscular to me really bad in the base of my skull and alot of dizziness.

I pray that you find some relief soon xo

In the early years in Florida, and when I developed fibro, I had very severe migraines. Now four years into living in PA., I have not had as many as before. I found that living without severe anxiety and stress, cut down on my headaches. Cold compresses and laying in a dark room and taking powerful pain killers provided my only relief. These headaches were a constant bother lasting days to weeks at a time. It is said some foods can trigger more headaches.

A relative has severe migraines, does not have fibro and has been getting tested trying to find out what is wrong.

Wish you the best of luck in trying to find relief from your migraines.

My daughter has MS, and she has had severe headaches since she was a teenager. They have never been able to find what caused the headaches, or find any way to treat them, so all she can do is take some heavy painkillers, and try to sleep until the headache goes away.
She has a lot of trouble moving sometimes; but on days when she is able, she tries to keep active.

Firstly, I'm not a Dr. So unqualified ..... other than personal experiences, but one thing I've been thinking about as of late, be careful not to think all life's physical ailments are directly because of Fibro.
Hope your feeling better.

My migraines just stopped suddenly! But when I used to have them, I took toradol and it worked great.
