Nausea and stomach issues

Hello,

I am new to this site and was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was wondering if anyone else suffers with a lot of nausea and/or stomach problems? My worst stomach issue is bad pain just to the left of the pit of my stomach, near the rib cage. It is sore most of the time and very painful to touch. It also at times, I think, causes a lot of belching and indigestion type symptoms. I have had blood work, ultra sounds, upper GI barium xray, and CT scan, all tests come back normal. I am at my wits end and so tired of feeling this stomach pain and nausea almost every day:-(

Yes - I suffer with nausea and stomach problems.

I have had two attacks where I have ended up bed written with vomiting and diarrhea because the pain was so bad. The pain tends to come and go - however I do have it more often than not. I have nausea most days. Like you, I have had all the tests done and they have all come back normal.

I have recently eliminated the following from my diet which is making a huge difference:
* gluten
* dairy
* tomatoes
* alcohol
* complex carbs (e.g. potato)

I have adrenal dysfunction with my fibro and that is known for causing lots of nausea issues. I developed terrible pain and nausea untreated (despite going to doctors many many times) that ultimately turned out to be undiagnosed pancreatitis, but this is all just speculative. But, have they checked your adrenal levels?

P.S. My (at the time) primary doctor treated me with anti-anxiety meds when I told him I had a constant ache in my belly. So, go figure - you've got to track down so much of your own information it seems when you have a complicated case.

I've been dealing with chronic nausea/stomach pain and vomiting for 13 years now... multiple GI docs and PCPs and the only answers were gastritis, esophagitis, GERD, IBS. The gastritis and esophagitis are simply inflammation suspected to be from GERD (acid reflux). I tried Nexium and Prilosec with minimal relief, if any. Prilosec I was on quadruple the typical dose (typical is 20mg daily, I took 40mg twice a day).
I recently posted asking the same thing, is my nausea/stomach pain fibro related? My rheumatologist says most likely not but the GI docs can't find the source of irritation. I'm nauseas almost every day, some days to the point where I cannot concentrate. I go through bouts of vomiting. Sometimes I'll vomit every morning for a few weeks, sometimes I'll go a month or two without vomiting. The nausea and vomiting are always worse in the morning then usually subside throughout the day. I've been checked for pregnancy more times than I can count and I keep telling them, I'M NOT PREGNANT! I just have morning sickness. For 13 years.
If anyone finds new info, please share!
For me, eating is unpleasant. I take 2 bites and my stomach starts hurting. I eat so slowly so not to make it worse and people sometimes think I'm anorexic when I sit staring at my plate, starving, and wish I could just enjoy a meal the way a normal person does. Some days I avoid eating, then that compounds the problem. I started taking a probiotic Culturelle for my lower GI problems (intense IBS pain, irregularity) and that's made a world of difference for the lower half... by my stomach is still a problem.

Are u taking a gastro pill from the Dr. If not ask for some I take one every morning and a indigestion pill. If I didn't I'd burn all day long. It helps with the sicky feeling alot

Thank you for all the responses! It is nice to know I am not the only one going through this but at the same time wish none of us had to! Eff fibro I am so sorry to hear of your suffering for so many years, my thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope that you can get some kind of relief very soon! I too have just started taking a probiotic so hopefully it will start helping with some of my issues but I am sure it could take awhile. I must say too that I have found I feel more nauseated when I do too much or do not get enough sleep so I have to work on that too though it is not always easy. Thanks again for all the responses and support, means a lot! I hope we all get some relief soon!

I am new here as well and as soon as I saw the header of your post (Nausea, Stomach issues)...I clicked!

I was just diagnosed with FM 2 days ago by a Rheumatologist---the jury is still out--as far as my doc is concerned because he still wants to rule out a few other things. BUT, this Rheum Doc feels very confident that it is FM and diagnosed me as such...which I kinda question her diagnosing me no tests results to rule out other things and being the first time I met her...things that may you go, 'hmmmm'....

Anyway...I am so sorry to hear about your stomach problems. I am right there with you and it is not fun. I have also been diagnosed with GERD, Hiatal Herna, IBS (of course), and being tested for Gastroparesis (slow gastric emptying).

How you by chance had an EEG? (scope?) It may be very worth your while to ask your doc to order that test if not.

Much of my stomach discomfort is far more manageable now that I am on Carafate (sp) and Dexilant which was prescribed to me due to the discovery of gastritis and the hiatal hernia via the EEG. BUT...yes yes yes.....as you mentioned, those intense stomach pains under your ribs....they knock the energy right out of you. What I have found to be most frustrating about this is that I cannot plan much of anything because the flare ups that come on so fast--often out of nowhere--take me down immediately--and it is about 3-5 days to recover. I hope you can get some answers so you can get relief.

One thing I have noticed with the stomach issues are that --although they are random and come in an instant (frequently)--I am learning some of my 'food' triggers---sometimes I can pinpoint things that aggravate it--other times, its a mystery. I am (personally) also seeing a pattern in my level of stress bringing on (or escalating the severity of) my stomach issues. I know there are definitely physiological problems in my digestive system...but, stress just seems to amplify everything--including the aches and pains: at least in my experience.

Anyway....hope you get some answers so that you can get that piece of it under control because I know it has a huge impact on daily life.

Hi, new here as well and the topic also made me click. Recently diagnosed though this has been going on for a few years now. The pain is mostly under control with pain killers and in a few weeks I'm going to a pain clinic that performs nerve block injections so here's hoping. Pain is primarily under my left rib cage as I believe has also been mentioned in this thread.

The nausea is by far the worst thing I'm experiencing. I can grind my teeth and deal with the pain if need to be but the nausea can be very debilitating and quite honest scary. I've had a all the tests and nothing so far but there will be more. I rarely vomit. It when I do it's almost always in the morning. If I wake up anytime after 5 am I can't go back to sleep because the nausea is so bad. Usually clears up enough a few hours after I wake up for me to function. Fortunately I'm self employed and can do most of my work from home. I do everything I can do avoid morning appointments as a reply of this awful nausea. Seeing as how I'm a male im pretty confident this isn't morning sickness...

This thread seems to have run it's course but I thought I'd throw this out there. Has anyone tired Tropisetron for the nausea? I did a search for it on the forum and nothing showed up. I'm doing all the research I can and am looking at things to talk to my doctor about. The nausea has gotten really bad for me and seems to continue throughout the day. I've never felt so hopeless about something on my life.

I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Tried Lyrica, too bad of side effects so had to stop, cymbalta the same way. Tried neurontin and it work great for my pain and being able to rest at night. After about a week i noticed burning in my stomach then suddenly woke up one morning with chest pains. Now it hurts all down my esophagus to swallow anything. Dr took me off meds says neurontin will not cause this but for me to stop taking it anyway. It has been 7 days without any meds except prevacid but still no relief. Has anyone taken this medicine and had any experience with this problem?

I was diagnosed in "97" but have been ill with fibro and ME for most of my life going on 30 years or more now! I suffer with bouts of nausea and tummy cramps as well as dioreha... It's very disturbing when It happens, and makes you feel very isolated , I can not even travel in a car very far before it will bring on symptoms!
I started keeping a food diary, and a drug diary... After a few months I could work out what was making things worse and cut them out my diet, all fried food, chocolate, fish, dairy foods, and bread and a few more... Then I asked my doctor for three different drugs, one for the sickness, one for the dioreha, and one for the anxiety... Soon as I feel bad I take these drugs and within an hour I feel a lot better. Loperamide is my best friend ! I also take omeprazol for the acid refluxs, but only when needed or it can give you more problems... Hope this helps...
I tend to break my fibro/ME down into little bits, and ask my doctors to help me solve each problem, rather than the thing as a whole, I have to do this because my doctor is no specialist, nor do I have access to one...

i too have stomach and urination problem for about 13 years since i was 17th . Just recently diagnosed for fibromyalgia. Glad the found it. had sleep dysfunction since 17th. dont eat fried food, chili, gluten, bread ,egg . dont take lyrica and other it cause side effect very bad.. It Successfull againts my diahreaaa , but i cannot heal urination problem , it cause impotence to me also . Feeling depresed , sigh
