Hi everyone/anyone that might read this :)
I've been suffering from the wrath of FM since my daughter was born 12/21/11. No one diagnosed me until a few weeks ago and every single doc until the one that diagnosed me treated me like I was suffering from hypochondria and new-mommy head trauma. It's been very difficult and completely debilitating at times.
Started my first FM med three weeks ago - Lyrica and that same day I was miraculously free of pain to the point that I was in TOTAL disbelief. I had one straight week of pain free days and then they upped my dosage from 75mg to 150mg. Since day 3 of 150mg I have been debilitated by what seems like Vertigo. It is even harder to work and be a mom with Vertigo. So, we lowered the dosage again and my body is still reacting to it as if i'm on the higher dosage. I stopped taking it yesterday morning because I have to work to keep insurance for my family and now the pain is back FULL ON. my body feels like one huge and pulsing bruise again.

I've got a referral to a specialist today. I hope that this doctor will be helpful but i'm so desperate to feel better that if you have ANY suggestions at all - please please please let me know how you've dealt with this madness. I'll keep reading what is on the boards because i'm already finding it helpful. thank you for any of your time - truly
ali

Alisonlade42,
Welcome to the forum. I am sorry it has taken this long for me to say hello and respond to your questions. Well, you should fit right in here as most of us went through the your just crazy stage with doctors. They say that because it seems to just say I do not know what is wrong takes away their credibility. Personally I think any doctor who treats a patient like he or she, is making it all up is a jerk.

I have never taken Lyrica, as I am allergic to it, but I have been on powerful meds. Sometimes it is better to stand up for yourself and refuse the increase in medication if the first dose is working just fine. Some of us are very senstive to medication and we can not handle high doses.

I know your scared but try to tell doctors the worse symptoms and deal with each one as you solve the bad ones first. If you throw to much at a doctor the first time the doctor may not take you serious. Keep good records. I hope you are seeing a rheumatologist. This is the type of doc for fibro. Please let me know how you make out.

Again I am sorry I missed you when you arrived on site. Please read the topic sections on pain management. Hope to see you around the forum. :)
